It is on a 20 frame and the .410 weighs more than the 28 but 6 ounces which is crazy.

Thicker walls on the .410 so the barrels fit causes the weight differential.

Thanks Charlie...after 18 years of being a small business owner we decided to sell our practice before the tax hikes started in 2021. No I can focus on hunting and fishing :)

The knife is a custom build by J Taber of Minnesota. I have a couple of his and his dad’s...his dad is a dentist turned knife maker! They make great slip joints!

First generation .410 Model 21s were quite heavy. I would love to own one of the originals or get one of my 20 gauges fixed up with .410 barrels at Galazans. Your retirement gun is beautiful.

Congratulations Shawn on the retirement and the very nice 2 barrel set. I bought two straight grip 21's last week as a retirement gift as well. The 16 is a two barrel set deluxe grade 26" ws1 and ws2, and 28 M/F. The second gun is a 20 ga.that is cut to 27" and is M/IM. It was a bundle deal that came from an old friend. I was mainly interested in the 16 but that 20 really throws great patterns and whoever shortened the barrels did an excellent job. Mine are not as nicely conditioned but will be nice shooters. I didn't need them but the deal was too good to pass up and the straight grips were a bonus for me.

Congrats to you too Tom. I bought a 16 21 as well but just sent it to CSMC to have the trigger redone and have a leather pad placed on it. I'll post a picture of the 16 below.

I'm a big Winchester model 21 as well. One of my favorite guns in my collection is a model 21-20 gauge skeet -28 inch barrel-matte rib -pistol grip and checkered butt with a beautiful piece of wood. The gun is about mint and factory letters. I really would like to find a 20 gauge Grand American one of these days. Anyways-Enjoy your retirement gift!

I know this is a Parker site, but discussion about 21s is a breath of fresh air. I bought my first 21s in 1965 when I was 19 and a starving college student. My dad talked me into a partnership where we ended up with a 20 Skeet and a 12 Field grade, cased together in a Purdey oak and leather case. I had shown dad an ad in the Washington Post classifieds for the guns and he insisted we drive to Alexandria, Virginia to "look at them". They turned out to be more than we could resist, mint condition, five years into the custom shop era, and cheap. I still have the wonderful 20 gauge that was dad's half of the partnership and still nearly unfired, and the great Purdey double case and cover. I hunted the finish off the 12 gauge behind great dogs chasing southern Pennsylvania pheasants and doves for eight years. It was also my clay target gun for the same eight years. I traded the 12 gauge 21 for a Parker SC in 1973.

I sold my practice after 18 years. I'm gonna work for the new owners part time for a couple of years unless they piss me off :rotf:

I am sure a man of your talent could work 11 days a week if you so desired. When I retired, I had so many practices wanting me to come to work for them, I still get calls. I do work 2 days/week now, but even that gets in the way of planning hunting trips. I dont know whether the work ethic is just too strong, or if I am just too cheap to quit--I suspect both.
