I think that one was featured in Parker Pages three or four years ago. It's a very pretty gun.

The auction claims 27 inch barrels and the article said the gun has 24 inch barrels .

From what I know, it has 24" barrels.

The Serialization book also shows 185572 with 24" Acme Steel barrels.

What is a "straight pistol grip with cap"?

The gun had a factory cheek piece on the stock. I think they called it the coffee can gun in the articles written about it since it started out as parts in just that.
The pieces written about the gun said that the gun would "never be for sale" although at that same time it was listed on gun broker for some years at a price of $49k. I guess that is the same thing I suppose.

We will see what it is actually worth at the auction block.

Does anyone know what barrels were on the gun that sold? I have a two barrel 20 gauge I picked up a few years ago that has 26" D-4 barrels and 24" Acme barrels. Both were well fitted and numbered to the gun. I knew the gun started life with 28" Dam barrels but because the gun fit me and was a great little grouse and woodcock gun with it's petite straight stock with checkered butt that I had to have it anyway. Because like Dean said, TPS lists only one set of 24" Acme barrels, and Brian heard the gun referred to as "a coffee can gun" I wonder if my barrel originally came on that gun?

In 2016 when the article was published in Parker Pages it still had its 24" Acme Steel barrels.... unless the author was mistaken about what he was reporting.

I have long admired that gun. Wish it was within my budget
