I’ve read through a lot of threads and faq’s but figured it might be easier to break things down by section, so what’s everyone’s favorite product:
Metal cleaning:
Metal protection (storage):
Wood cleaning:

Metal: Clenzoil but just received CorrosionX to try out
Wood: Clenzoil
Friction: Lubriplate grease
But sometimes any of 1,000 other products I have on hand. They're all the same anymore, so much good stuff out there.

I found the Lubriplate was too thick/coarse for the close tolerances on my tight Parkers’ hinge joint/hook and I couldn’t close the gun.

I put the tiniest "shmear" on the metal and haven't had any trouble. But then again sometimes I use what I use on my bullseye wad gun, a tiny speck of plain gun oil.

Parker promoted 3 in 1 oil . Tru Value and Walmart have it.
Back in the 1870’s and 80’s , sperm whale oil was often used. Tru Value and Walmart do not carry that .

That’s reported to be the finest oil that can be used on any machinery.

Dean, it's really interesting stuff. Only a very light odor -- kind of waxy smelling. I bought it from a guy who sold doubles at gun shows back when gun shows were good. John Allen was at the same show and also bought some. We got the last of his stash. I do use it sparingly, and it seems to work just fine in both protecting and lubricating metal.

Here's a related question: what are the high movement/friction points that you consider a must for lubrication?

The hinge & roll joint; the forward face of the rearmost lug; the sides of the barrel lug; the knuckle that the forend articulates against and the breech face where the extractor/ejectors ride against.
