Our girl Alder turned 9 today. Hard to believe the time could move so quickly. She won't win any bench shows, but I'm sure that if I had trialed her from horseback, she would have won a few, even when up against "white dogs." She is the hardest going Gordon we've been owned by, and it took a lot to bring her in for foot hunting. But she puts on a show when she points. Paradoxically, she is the most calm and quiet house dog we've ever had the pleasure to share a couch with.

She wins the record for most injuries acquired through hunting because she goes so hard. She never met a barbed wire fence that could stop her. I keep thinking she'll slow down some, but hunting with her is a good cardio workout for sure.

Happy Birthday, Alder!

Garry, i kind of like that 3 hole dog unit--who makes it--I have only ever seen 2 hole units, and I have 3 setters.

Harold, I've had that box since the early 1990s. It is made by a firm in Alabama, but I don't recall the name. I can see if I can find it if you like. This one was the largest 3-dog aluminum box I could find at the time that fit between the wheel wells of a regular sized pick-up. It's very light -- Elaine and I can easily lift it. It has been a good investment and is large enough for a 70 lb. Gordon. If I recall correctly, the company would also custom make a box, too.
