I’ve seen several 2 frames guns lately with 28” factory barrels. Most seem to have been made well after a 1 and a half frame was introduced. Has anyone seen any factory 2 frames with 26” barrels?

Also why would Parker have done this?

It’s my understanding that frame size wasn’t really a known thing by the customer.

It was all about balance and desired end weight.

I have not personally seen. 26” 2 frame gun. At least none that were original. We all know that plenty exist due to barrels being cut.

That is not to say that it is out of the realm of possibility that one could have been made, but I would have a hard time seeing why.

Makes sense. I just find it odd that someone would request a heavy 28” gun. I imagine the default for someone ordering 28” barrels would be a 1 and a half frame.

One of my 4 frame 10's has 30" barrels which seem short for the frame size.

I’ve got a two frame EH that left the factory with 28” barrels and it feels pretty good . I’ve also got a two frame 10 gauge top lever that left the factory with two sets of barrels of which the shorter set are original at 26” and it feels pretty good as well .

I think they made about a dozen or so EH 10’s with 26” barrels and half a dozen or so with 24” barrels . I would assume all were on #2 frames as none have ever been in my hands and dunno if any of them still exist , but I’d like to have one of each .

I’ve got a DH 12 with 28” original barrels that’s on a 3 frame . It feels okay all be it a slight bit bulky .

My 4’s are 32 and 34 inches which I think would be more realistic . Although I’d surely not turn down a 30 inch gun that’s original .

Weren't the 12 gauge Trojans offered special order with 26" barrels?

I guess if its the early 1900's with long seasons, favorable limits, and the means to buy one Parker I would choose a #2 frame, 12 ga., with 28" barrels. Sounds like the right gun for ducks, pheasants, and grouse in upstate NY in the early 1900's.

A 12g trojan was standard on a 2 frame with 28” and 30” barrels.
I am sure that the factory would entertain a request for 26” barrels.

This goes back to kirks question. If a 28” 2 frame 12g was so out of the ordinary, the fsctory would not have made it a standard offering on the trojan.

I guess not out of the ordinary exactly, but it would have to be a customer request if not a Trojan I would think.

I remember Bob Fabian had a 26” 12 gauge in high condition that I believe was on a 2 frame about 7 years ago for sale at Hausmann’s.

I don’t remember the grade but I know it a GH or less in grade.

I bought that gun from Bob but have since parted with it:banghead: I cannot recall the frame size though. It was a high condition GHE with 26" barrels.

I have a 20g Trojan straight grip two bbl set. One bbl is 26" and the second is 28". Everything is SN to the gun.

I've got two at 26" 2 frame 12's. One is the first barrel from a two barrel set. The other is a late 30's skeet gun with BTFE and skeet chokes.

The two barrel set mentioned above is a DH from 1902. The short barrels are .000 and .006, the second set is 30" and .030 and .037 which are chamber lengthened to 3". It has a replacement Monte Carlo stock at 16" LOP. I call it my Pareto gun as it shoot 80/20. The guy who had the new stock affixed must have looked like Lurch.

A 2 frame 26" skeet gun from the late 30's? Let us have a look at this one please.

You know it’s kind of a PITA ! One day I’m more intrested in light short barreled guns then the next day I’m intrested in heavier longer barreled guns . It’s kinda calm on the days it’s one or the other but the majority of the days I’m intrested in both and usually that becomes quite costly :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Here is a PH with the 26"barrels of a 2 barrel set. The gun is balanced perfectly with either set of barrels.

Unless a gun was ordered to be heavy in front or light, Parkers made with two sets of barrels were always perfectly balanced.

On the opposite end, smaller frame longer barrels, apparently Parker wouldn’t accommodate everything a customer wanted. Sounds like this guy wanted longer barrels to shoot heavier loads fitted to his smaller frame gun.

What a wonderful letter to have! I must admit that I never cease to be impressed with the customer service of Parker Bros. and with their ideas of balance, proportion and handling (not to mention safety) in their shotguns. Yes, they may be on the heavier side, but a balanced gun is a delight to shoot.

I realize longer barrels are the thing now in all aspects of shotgun target games .

BUT............................................... ................................................ !

If I ever had the J. Cliff Green 2 gun four barrel set in my accumulation I would shoot the hell out of them regardless of the 24" barrels :bigbye:

To be honest the only time I've been to Sanford a few years ago , my number one reason for coming was to see that set .

Would love to see the letter on that one Bill. Was the weight and/or frame size requested. Wonder what load he wanted to shoot thru that.

I have to make a correction on the late VHE Skeet. 239,xxx is a 1 1/2 frame not a 2. Sorry about that. The turn of the century DH is a 2 frame.

1889 CH 12 30” and 10 26” set.

The 10/26 is original cyl bore.

All of these guns and more are exhibited at the annual Pheasant Fest , usually attended by around 30,000 people.

I’d be intrested to see how I could do on the skeet field with the 10/26 barrels on with my low octane 1 1/8 ounce loads .

Not an ugly gun, Bruce. And I was just about to put my CH two barrel composite gun on the block.
