I have been lucky enough to come into a parker hammer gun of 1884. Its a 26" twist steel barrel gun with a brass shield in the upper wrist of the stock. The gun is in poor condition overall missing its left hammer, having cracks in the stock and a loose action. She'll definately need tlc from a smith.

I look forward to being part of the community and keeping these historic guns in service.

(I'll get pictures posted later)

Wow!
26” is an extremely uncommon length for a Parker made in 1884.
Looking forward to the pictures.

I think the left side chamber has a crack in the wall  And yes, bores are pretty badly pitted

Even after looking through the identifying information i'm not super sure what I have. So any information would be appreciated. I did a basic cleaning when i brought it home, but it will absolutely need to go to a smith for proper refurbishment

I figured it had been messed with at some point in its life. old shotguns are 28-20"

My bad. I had fumbled that post.

I want to get it back to servicable condition, what should i ask a smith to do?

I would consider that gun a learning experience and hang it over the fire place.

Thats my end goal. I figured it was an ok price (if it were a parts set) for a good wall hanger.
I'd still like to get a hammer made and maybe have it cleaned up. If its a loss i'll just mess with it myself

Serial #'s on frame and barrels dont match--what serial number is on the fore end?

The 18678 on the barrel flat is the order number - the serial number is on th left side of the lug.
