New member from Maine here, and just picked up my first 2 Parkers!
A PH 12ga w/Damascus made in 1896, and a 20ga Trojan made in 1927!
Love both of them, and can't wait to shoot them.
I have two questions on the Damascus PH however.
1. I understand that I need to shoot light loads with this type of barrel.
I found RST Lite 1oz #6 shot at LLBean. Is this suitable?
2. The Damascus barrel has 2 small dents about the size of a pin head on the left barrel. 1 about half way down and the other right before the end of the barrel. I'd like to have these taken out. Can anyone recommend someone, hopefully here in Maine that knows how to do this?
If I can figure out how to post a photo of the dents, I'll do it.
thank you
Steve

Hi Steve - Welcome.
Those RST loads are perfect.

Try Steve Dalzell right there in southern Maine. He is on his own now but was David Trevallion’s protege’ for seveal years.

Where in Maine are you?

Thanks! I live up in Brewer. I'll have to goggle him to see if I can find his info.

Hmmm, Brewer huh? That’s a long ride from Steve Dalzell...

Give the guys at Wildwood Guns in China and get a recommendation from them where to take it. They usually have some nice doubles in their shop.

Not finding anything for Steve Dalzell on Google..
Would you have a phone or email address by chance?

I may have found him. A Yacht designer in Kennebunkport?

Unfortunately, the number I found in White pages on line had been disconnected.
Any chance you have a number, or know someone who would?

Congrats Steve. I'm sliding down the expensive money hole just like you with these things : ) It's awesome. Where in Maine? We go up a lot, my wife and I were married in Camden. Post photos! I find the more I look, the more I learn from people on here. I can't imagine having that knowledge but enjoy learning.

I live up in Brewer, near Bangor.
I've had a lot of different guns over the years, but never a Parker till now!
Hopefully, I can figure out how to post photos... I don't have a photo hosting service, and it looks like I'd need one to post my photos..

Steve - you don’t need a photo hosting service to post your pictures here.

Go to our HOME page and at the left you’ll see a column of links.
At the bottom of the column see FAQ’s or Frequently Asked Questions... click on that...
At the bottom of that page you’ll see how to post pictures. It’s all there - just follow the instructions.

I find that if you don’t edit and crop your picture only a very tiny bit they’ll post sideways or upside-down.

There's something about that PH engraving I just love. It's simple and just so cool.

Both of these guns just amaze me, but the PH 12ga is just soo awesome just to look at. Between the engraving and the damascus pattern, I just love it.
The Trojan 20ga is pretty sweet too! Just not quite so pretty!

Here’s a few more pics
Can you tell me anything about the little engraved shield on the underside of the butt stock? Would Webster Gatchell be the likely original owner?

That’s so nice! Thanks for sharing.

The name on the stock shield may or may not be the original owner. Only a letter would tell you that. Based on the style of the lettering the the brightness of the cuts, I would say it is not original to the gun, but more likely way more recent.

Considering the condition of the gun it wouldn’t surprise me if that engraving was as old as the gun.

I'll have to join as a member and order a letter to find out.
I did find a Webster Gatchell here in Maine that was born in 1876 and died in 1959, so that may be him.
In any case, my PH will now forever be called "Webster"! :)
