I'm somewhat new here, so I do a lot of reading, there was a discussion about repo barrels. Around 1964 a uncle gave me a 20 ga ghe with Damascus barrels and made me promise to never shot it. So at 14 yrs old I got hold of a gun smith named harry haight in new prestion CT and had him put a set of barrels on my gun, now back to the repo barrels I think they they are Atlas repos for the parkers, cost a 14 yr old a very lot of trapping money.

Atlas barrels were a popular replacement for those "dangerous" Damascus barrels back in the day. Nothing wrong with them. But there may have been nothing wrong with the original Damascus barrels either. Your uncle was only trying to protect you and the general consensus back then was what he was following.

Still got the org 28" Damascus barrels, couple of minor dents bores perfect, me being almost 71 should shoot it, don't think he would hate me for it. Shot a lot of birds back in the 60's with the G 20 long time ago.

Wonderful you still have the original barrels!

I would recommend that you have the dents professionally raised, have the wall thicknesses measured, get some low-pressure ammo of the appropriate length and have some fun shooting it with its original barrels.
