This is the water table for 52961, 12 gauge on a 1 frame, 30” bbls. Wondering what the 99C means

Mike, in The Parker Story there is a section on all of the known stampings and a significant number of them cannot be explained.
I believe that is one of those that can’t.

That letter might be a G the bottom curves in before the top curve. Not that it helps with your question.

More photos of 52961. My friend in here in Maine was given this by his mother-in-law after she “discovered” it among her ailing husband’s possessions. My friend has become an instant Parker nut and will be joining us on our Tenth Legion Annual Parker Damascus Hammergun Spring Turkey Hunt. Our numbers are growing and as Mr. Franzen can attest, our wild turkey numbers are also. Thankfully the daylight is getting longer and it’s just over four months away from Gobble Gobble time. Thank y’all for your sharing your knowledge. Merry Christmas pilgrims!

I really like the slim dainty wrists on these hammer guns.

Nice hammer gun!!

I notice an anomaly that the 1876 and 1878 patent dates are stamped on the right barrel flat --

91226

while they are normally seen on the left barrel flat --

91227

Interesting. The checkering and stock seem more fitted to a higher grade gun. The bores are perfect and the action is very tight. I don’t believe this gun was fired or handled much in its 138 existence. What a great first Parker!

That is just a great Parker period. Hard to tell from the photos but looks like there is still some case coloring. I love the laminated patterns.

Wondering what the 99C means

Still have no idea on what that 99 means, but have noticed that quite a few guns have a C in that location.

91300

and another with the patent dates on the right barrel flat --

91299

I find the C in that location on some hammerless guns too.

The stamping sure looks original and to have been on the barrel at the same time as all of thr other markings. But who knows what it may mean.
