Anyone else having issues with USPS right now?

I recently purchased an Ithaca NID 16ga off gun broker.

Sent the guy a chashiers check priority mail with tracking and everything.

It's last update was a distribution center in IL. Been sitting there since 12/8 now. I am hearing stories about Priority mail taking up to 3-4 weeks to arrive, as it just sits in dist centers because of short staffing.

The guy I am buying from has been very patient, and is in no hurry.

But, fairly frustrating, as anyone who has ever bought a gun off GB before knows, you can't wait to get your hands on the gun, so you can figure out if it is what you think it is....

I mailed a painter a check in late September and it has not arrived yet. I wrote him a check two weeks after I mailed it and he had not received it. I took it to him personally because I felt so bad that he had not received it and did not want to leave him hanging.

I sell a lot of stuff on GB and buy a fair amount so I know both sides of the coin very well . ALWAYS when I buy and pay by paper funds I send it Priority Mail take a picture of the label and send it to the seller . Atleast I can show then it’s been sent . GB protocol states funds and or FFL in the senders hands in14 days or less , however the buyer has no control over the GD USPS and if they have the tracking number atleast they know an envelope was sent their way . Over ten years doing this we’ve had problems with UPS FedEx and the USPS . Just seems here lately the PO is a hell of a lot worse . I’ve got a buddy that works for the PO and he said from the start of Covid19 their buisness quadrupled and now being Xmas I’m sure it’s 2 or 3 times worse .

So far, the seller has been very patient. And, seems in no hurry.

Problem is, with a cashiers check, they are very difficult to stop.

So, we have to wait it out.

The problem for me is, this is the EXACT gun I have been looking for for a very long time.... And, now must wait because of PO.... arrgh!

Same story here. My buddy who works in the PO told me the same thing. On a related note, we have always received our mail at home by 300. Now it's closer to 600. There is a sigh out in front of our local post office that says "Now Hiring" You know it's bad when the USPS is putting out recruiting signs.

I believe everyone is experiencing the same issues, mine have been numerous. I have a package that has been sitting in NC since 12/03 that had a delivery date of 12/05. Until this morning it had not been updated, now it has been updated to an expected delivery date of 12/04. Not sure quite how that's going to happen.

Had another package that was hung up in ND for several days with no movement then one day it appeared on my doorstep. Tracking said it was still in ND. Then about 4 days later I got the email, "Package Delivered".

As of now I have a Parker inbound with a delivery date of 12/17. As I have so little confidence in the target date being accurate I am not going to be disappointed when it does not show up, right. NOT HARDLY !

I was at the post office today and the clerk was telling someone that the only service they could guarantee delivery of on time is express mail.

I spoke up and corrected him by saying that the only guarantee is to drive it there yourself.

The funny thing is that a few months ago everyone wanted to blame it on the election. Now it is even worse than it ever was. What is the excuse now? back to Covid must be.

I was told it is basically mountains of packages at those facilities that need to move and very few are getting out. If yours is on the bottom of the pile, then it will be a while.

What has killed me about all of this is that I have had items coming from across the country that get to me in record time, but packages going 2-4 hours away are taking 10 days or more.

Mine was going to PA, from here in MO, why it went to Chicago... I guess I don't understand logistics.

It's just very frustrating. I wish the people at PO would be upfront and tell you, it may not get there for 3 weeks, I would have taken it to UPS or Fedex.

One day last week I drove by our local post office to drop some office mail in the outdoor mail drop. The large metal mail drops. There are two sitting side by side and both were so full of mail that I could not get mine in either one. Maybe more people are dropping mail outside as opposed to entering the building due to Covid. But if so, should they not empty the outside drops more frequently?? It really is crazy right now.

I went to the PO last Tuesday and there wasn't another soul there in line the whole time I was there. My Wife had our taxes done a couple of days after the normal due date. She always does them hard copy and mails them, doesn't trust the internet for anything financial. She mailed them on 20 April with tracking and a return receipt. They arrived at the IRS box in Fresno on 22 April by the tracking info. We got our refund check in August. The return receipt arrived in our mail box on Monday the 7th of December!! It was stamped received by the IRS on 20 June.

On the other hand my winnings from the Ward's auction got here plenty quick via UPS.

News this morning UPS & Fed Ex are refusing packages from major shippers on the front end. Previous peak shipment times they accepted all then delivered as best they could. Now only accept what they can handle. Both cite lack of capacity with inaccurate volume forecast from large shippers.

This puts more stress on USPS who is not allowed to refuse. . Further complication all three largely compete for the same 3rd party line haul carriers. None own railroads, some own airplanes, not enough to carry the volume. Lot of air cargo went to passenger carriers in the belly. Not flying as many planes now. Most use the same contracted long haul truckers. Owner operated truck capacity has reduced.

Situation is not going to get better anytime soon.

At the kinda beginning of the crud I ordered three round ball molds from a mold cutter in the UK . Paid him thru PayPal from the day the order and payment arrived the molds cut , taken to the shipping center in London and arrived in Chicago took six or seven days . Then said molds sat in the Chicago area for TWO WEEKS , I’m sure part of that was the USPS claiming they needed to be in quarantine for a bit . Anyway by the time I got them it’d been 32 days . Yes 32 days from payment to delivery of the 42 days 4 or 5 were used up by the manufacturer cutting them packing and shipping after that it was oughtta his hands .

I've always had good luck & service shipping things through the USPS until recently. I've bought some Model-21 small parts off eBay from two different outlets in the last few weeks. Both orders came out of California to Denver. Both shippers gave me notice almost immediately that they had shipped the parts first class mail. One took two weeks & the other three weeks to make the trip.

I don't know what's actually happening at USPS, but until things change around I won't be using them for anything that's important for timely delivery.

We had a customer order a gift certificate for Christmas. She ordered a month ago and lives about 12 miles away. It took two weeks for the envelope to arrive. Between the Wuhan, holiday shipments, Amazon shipments and short staffed crews, this isn’t going to get better until the new year.

I traded messages with a guy on that other board that works for USPS. He used their internal tracking and said he could see that my item was still at the Elk Grove Facility, even what piece of equipment it was on.... So, at the moment anyway, it appears to not be lost.... But no idea when it will arrive, as of right now it's 10 days late.... But, still hoping it eventually gets there.

Then, how long will it take for the gun to get to me is the big question... Heck, at this point I'd almost recommend him just waiting til after the 1st of the year.... Maybe I'll have the gun by this spring... :-)

I'm finding that both the USPS and UPS are taking forever to arrive. I also had a recent Amazon order either put into the wrong mailbox or someone snitched it out of mine.

I also think that, since the USPS has contracts to handle both UPS and Fedex shipments that they are pretty swamped and under staffed. I've ordered a couple of AR trigger groups recently and they're taking forever to arrive and shipping is around $20, which is absurd for something that could be put into a small padded envelope and sent for less than $3.

It happens every December. Shipping goes nuts. UPS using the post office for local deliveries isn't helping along with corona and short staffs. It will clear.

I purchased a 1st edition Christmas Carol that arrived a day late, and ordered a refurbished Stihl Leaf vaccum that was supposed to get here Tuesday that is coming today.

It just gets crazy this time of year.

Even small freight companies are unreliable. Had a local company scheduled to pick up 3 pallets of shelled pecans to be delivered to a customer this past Monday. ( purposely scheduled a week earlier then the customer requested to allow for any delays)Truck did not not show. They rescheduled for Wednesday again no show. Promised a pick up today and guess what a text a little while ago telling me cannot do it. I now need to rent a truck and make a 10 hour round trip to meet my commitment to my customer.

Last month I ordered my wife and I new cell phones. For some reason they sent mine by Canada Post and her's by Purolator Courier. Canada Post had longer expected delivery time and beat it by a day. Purolator's tracking website said her's missed a connection and then just stopped. After about a week and a half of no change I tried calling their telephone number. The recorded message said they were experiencing high volumes, suggested checking the website, and hung up. A couple of days after that I tried the automated chat on the tracking website. I typed in the tracking number and the machine said it missed a connection and was there anything else they could help with. I typed in a couple of more questions and each time the machine said it wasn't programed with a response to that guestion and was there anything else it could help with. While I thought of what to do next I typed in that it didn't help and was useless. It responded that it didn't appreciate my tone and language and froze the chat. Welcome to customer service in the 21st century.

Mine is with US Bank, and they said 90 days. They are hard to stop for a reason..... So, if it comes to that, I'll be out a bit of cash til that all gets settled. Problem is, if I send the guy another check.... I am afraid it suffers the same fate, I rek'n if it comes to that, it'll go fedex.

Now... Lets forget the current (and hopefully temporary) third world state of the postal service and look at this positively. Joseph if it were me I would insist that the shipper does not use USPS at this time. IMO you have zero chance of receiving your shipment in a timely manner. As of now even the over night items with guaranteed delivery are not making it on time. Surely some are but not the packages that I have sent. The good news would be that monies are refunded on guaranteed over night deliveries that fail to make it on time. Good luck !

I have asked for UPS or Fedex. Also, asked them to ship with the gun broke down, as gun length boxes have a way of getting damaged. Two different long guns broke at the wrist now, one out bound, the other inbound.

The gun is a 16ga Ithaca NID Grade 2. So, would hate to see it's stock snapped in two like that.

The concern shouldn't be with RST themselves, it's the overall shortages of ammunition and component supplies I'm concerned about.

I looked at the RST web site the other day and they have the majority of their products listed as out of stock. I'm starting to get concerned if these smaller specialty businesses will be able to make it through our current times. On one hand it's great they have had banner sales in the short term, but on the other hand, if they can't get the components & supplies to replenish their stocks, what will that mean for the long haul.

I am currently dealing with that now.
I have been selling a TON of Remington 1100 and 700 parts on eBay. Most of the parts ship in a padded envelope as a flat and without tracking. I anticipated I would be dealing with people asking where their parts are. And it has started yesterday. People opening claims with eBay and demanding refunds. Negative feedback, accusations of me not shipping the items... are these people living in a dark hole or something? I simply ask for patience and understanding. I will not entertain refunds for at least another few weeks because of the situation Jerry explains above. You give a refund and then the item shows up..

Heck, I still have a gun out there that I shipped on Dec. 2nd. to PA from NY! It moves here and there. It is currently finally in Harrisburg.

I am really curious to know if some sort of class action will end up being brought against USPS when all this is said and done with.

I am waiting on a priority mail from NC and I am confident it is just hung up in the same kind of bs as mentioned above. I sent a package 2 day to the same address to get there by Xmas and sure hope it made it. I guess we should give them a break because of the holidays, but we have never had this many problems in previous years.

While I totally agree holidays etc slow things down I just wonder anymore how much is actually because of what they say or rather they’ve gotten so used to that excuse they use it while house now . Seems as if the time honored process of “I pay you for your service and you agree to do it in a timely manner” have gone out the window and are a pipe dream now .

We sent several packages, via Priority, of Christmas cookies to in-laws in Rock Hill, SC on 8 December. Email yesterday they were in the Brooklyn, NY distribution center but no where to be found. We suspect the Elves took them up to the North Pole.

I understand Sara's predicament .We did not go to usual family Chriistmas gathering so instead we sent some cooked food that we usually make for the Holiday . Overnight express cost $35.00 ,distance 200 miles, package did not arrive for 4 1/2 days, food spoiled.
I luckily followed the tracking # and printed out the fact that after 4 days they were still guaranteeing me delivery in 24 hours !
They had spoiled the Christmas spirit.
Next day I went to the Post office after trying to complain on line and the post office telling me that the package was stolen off a porch.
Local post person said this obviously was not your fault. Delivery was guarenteed and issued me a check for the entire amount.
The point of this long winded story is maybe if it costs them enough in refunds
they will improve service.

After watching this thread when combined with my recent personal experiences. I've come to the conclusion that there is currently some alarmingly large systemic problems with the USPS.

Everything I've ordered in the last two months has arrived in a normal time frame if it was shipped through carriers other than USPS, on the other hand everything shipped through the USPS system has been slow, late or in a couple of cases lost completely and this includes my daily mail.

I have no idea of the many possible causes of these problems or if they'll be resolved anytime soon. All I know for sure is I won't use the USPS to send anything of value or that needs to arrive in a timely manner until things smooth out with the USPS.

I've had a few Amazon orders pending for some time. One tracked as having been put into my mailbox on Nov 19, which was not true as I was here. A few days ago I got a notice from Amazon that it had been returned by the carrier and they had given me a refund. Go figure. Another small order tracked as being stuck in a facility in NJ for three weeks. They gave me a refund on that one despite me not wanting it once they told me that the package was actually on the way in my direction. A few days later it arrived here. Very unreliable service during the holiday season.

The solution is very simple. Get Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk to take over the post office. Bezos will get it here before you get up from your computer, and if you don't like it, Musk will pick it up, return it to the sender and put it back on the shelf.

PA appears to be the epicenter of my frustration. In early December I ordered a book from a used bookseller outside of Philly for my daughters birthday (12/24) to be delivered in LA. It still hasn’t been delivered. On 12/15 I sent a bank check to a guy in PA for a M70 and the check has not arrived. The seller seems to have more patience than I do.

PA appears to be the epicenter of my frustration. .

A check was sent to me from northern PA - it would have been about a 2 hour drive to just go get it - took over a week to get here.

and before Christmas I ordered something for my wife - shipped from California - left the left coast on the 21st headed to upstate NY - on the 28th it landed in Warrendale PA, were, according to tracking it still resides :corn:

my wife sent something to a co worker last week - I offered to drop it off since I was running an 45 minute round trip errand that would take me with in a 1/2 mile of the house- it's that close - but she has a note to write and it wasn't done so it went in the mail- still have not heard that she got it yet -

there are always a few rare delivery horror stories but lately it seems that the rare events are not the delays

Dont blame the poor service of the post office on covid because I have experienced poor service for the past 5 years. I have used priority mail forwardind , at a cost of nearly $300 per year, while in Florida. While the deliveries were prompt the post office continued deliveries when they were to be stopped, wrong forwarding address, and deliveries resumed before they were scheduled were amongst my complainants. In 2019 it took them 12 days to deliver a first class letter to Baldwinsville, NY a distance of 80 miles. This year my wife mailed a xmas package to Sacremento, Ca.and after arriving in Sacremento 14 days later it remain in the hands of the P.O.for another15 days before delivery was made. I have little respect for the services the P.O. provides anytime and aviod using there services from Veterans day until January 2.

Our mailman is a good, conscientious guy. He says that many of the newer, younger hires are playing the Covid thing for everything they can get. He was working 12 hours to try to cover, but his health (not Covid) got worse, and he dialed himself back down to 8's

John I realize that the post office has some very good employees. I am very pleased with my current delivery person and the person in Florida who delivered my mail last year was outstanding , however during the late 70s- the early 80s I received my paycheck from my neighbors on at least 3 occasions. When I returned from Florida last year I asked our past postmaster if he was promoted to his current position on merit or kissed someones backside to acquire that promotion. He did not reply

The problems with the USPS now seem to extend beyond their distribution centers where some packages sat for weeks per their tracking system. Yesterday I had a package out for delivery. I was home for most of the day. The little white mail truck never showed up. People where I live are reporting the same, no usual mail delivery and sometimes for days. Yesterday a woman reported her mailman told her he was the only one in town making deliveries, this in a city of 30,000. Apparently many carriers are out of work for two weeks at a time due to having close contact with a person with Covid or they have the Covid. As you know this is and could be a serious problem, think of the people who get prescription meds via the mail and other important items. This is bad time to be mailing valuables or time sensitive items. If they want it I hope postal carriers get priority for a vaccine, a broken unreliable mail system has a lot of repercussions.

So I just bought a cool double gun from a gent in the upper midwest and he shipped it on Monday Jan 4 by REGISTERED MAIL. If you're not familiar with Registered Mail, it's is held in high security/locked cages etc and every person that handles the package must "sign" for it. From what I understand it can't be tracked as typical and kind of goes into limbo until delivered. Let's see how long it takes getting to PA.

My mailman when he delivered my gun after 27 days said he had worked 35 days in a row. At Christmas time they go from a salary to being paid by the hour. He had so much mail he made the first trip out and then went back to the P.O. and loaded up again for a second trip. I saw him late in the evening with his beacon on top of his truck going long after dark.

He said one of the main hangups was the contract carriers that move the mail from one center to another. They also work for other delivery companies and they were booked beyond hope of timely deliveries.

My experiences with registered mail was like taking a step back in time when the mail was carried by the pony express.

I've never been as frustrated with any form of shipping as I was with registered mail. Between the special packing & taping requirements, the hit or miss tracking features & particularly the slow shipment process. I told myself I'll never use it again & haven't.

My question is unless the signatory of your package travels with your package how secure is it? To me it is another revenue creating scheme by the P.O. When the china virus is history, this forum will still be reviewing the faults of the P.O. Personally, I would pay $1.00 for a 1st class letter for improved service from a private carrier who seem to deliver on time despite the virus.

I have been sitting on that Fraser that I restocked and waiting until after the holidays to send it back to the owner. With it traveling across the country, I did not want to deal with it taking a month to get there. I decided to eat the extra cost and send it express mail since it was the only service that the post office was still guaranteeing. Meaning, if not on time they will refund me.
So, I was banking on it being late and getting my money back. But... they delivered on time next day. So good news it got there, bad news I lost the bet.

its incredible - between amazon and ebay - more than half the items I have ordered are in that state. some since before Christmas

one was an item we needed from Amazon (no local pharmacy stocks it ) so I reordered from a different seller that had a quick date listed -the tracking on the day after I reordered said the tracking label was created - then item awaiting pick up and the item in shippers possession.

and then then next day - they repeated those same steps - then a couple days later - got the red dot - in transit arriving late :rotf:

the annoying thing is the first try's shipper keeps moving the arrival date out and the Amazon policy says you can't begin the refund process until 3 days after the last shown date

I've gotten to the point if we really need it - I have my daughter order it on her prime account - those items get here in a couple days - even on Sunday

Sadly that wouldn't help any of us shipping or buying guns

If you you are a postal worker and are breathing your job is secure. While it is true that many workers are capable of doing a very good job there is a minority that is only willing to do enough to get by, often times, far less. Up until May 2019 our local postmaster showed up at 8:30 AM after his workout, was the first to leave for lunch, and often had personal business after 4 PM. It only takes 1 person to destroy your parcel or misplace your letter and it appears the post office has an ample supply of personnel for that purpose.

My Amazon orders, generally small stuff, are arriving much faster now and pretty much when they say they will. I have to go in today to pick up three orders. A friend in Idaho sent a very nice and very old railroad lantern to someone here in southeast Alaska, using two boxes, one for the lantern body, the other for the more fragile glass globe. One box arrived empty, having clearly been cut open and resealed. That was a surprise.

just to keep it interesting -

I ordered some photographic film late in the day last Tuesday, a box of B&W and I meant to order some color film for landscapes, but clicked the wrong button and accidentally ordered one better suited for portraits -

I noticed the mistake as soon as I got the almost instant order confirmation email

no big deal, and no need to cancel, I was almost out of that film anyway and would still use it, so I went right back on and ordered the one I really wanted.

the company I ordered from is in NYC - I'm in upstate

the first order - the one with two boxes was here on Friday via UPS. The shipping email for the second order (one box) said it would be here Monday.

Monday I checked the tracking and UPS said they had, on Monday, handed the package off to their delivery partner-- USPS  - giving it to the local sorting station - where it sat for three days. the tracking for those three days said there was no guarantee on delivery timing. Even after arriving, the tracking still said it was at the sorting station

so - four days longer for a short transit distance just because USPS was in the mix

I was confused because I had not ordered a second one of that item - since I got one months ago

In January we had to pay 4 bills electronically as our checks were delayed a couple weeks. I just bought something from a member here which he mailed from Michigan 2 day priority mail. It got here February 1 which was the due date! I asked him if my check had made it to him and, thusfar, no answer. So, it looks like the letter delivery must still be compromised.

I have only had problems once with USPS. This past season I cut and wrapped a hindquarter for a friend in Tennesee. I sent it overnight express. The package never got there yet they stated it was delivered. It showed up two weeks later stinking like hell. It must have been in the post office all that time. I don't know why they delivered a rancid smelling package but they did.

I cut up another hind quarter for this friend but sent it UPS. This package showed up on time.

a member sent me a package - mailed from Fairbanks Alaska on the 3rd, the label says expected delivery date was the 8th

it arrived in upstate NY on the 6th

somebody screwed up :rotf::rotf::rotf:

hopefully, the check traveling the reverse route will not be the rule the package was the exception to :corn:

There are a few of us who still shoot black and white, large and small format, develop, and print our own photographs. The fine print quality of paper is still better than ink jet and laser printing, although I had some Adirondack landscapes printed with a large format Epson, very impressive quality. Tradition dies hard.

Check arrived Rick. Thanks. I could have sent you two bulk loaders - a Lee and a Watson - and a bag of empty canisters, but didn't get an answer on whether you wanted them. I can still send them if you like.

Interesting blurb on the local news this morning that back before WW-I postage was cheaper than train tickets and people mailed children under fifty pounds to relatives in other cities rather than spring for a train ticket.

Here's the tracking info for a Priority Mail envelope with a payment check inside, mailed to Steve Barnett LLC in West Point, MS.

Feb 10 - mailed at my local PO here in PA
Feb 11 - arrived and departed Phila PA Dist. Center
Feb 12 - arrived at Jackson MS Dist. Center
Feb 13 - departed Jackson
Feb 20 - arrived at PO in Steens MS
Feb 22 - back in Jackson MS Dist. center
Feb 24 - delivered to West Point PO and then to SB LLC

14 days in transit when Priority Mail used to take 3 days max. :banghead:

USPS now has a service where you get an email every day showing what mail is coming that day. Well, that was a great idea and worked well for a while, but now what is shown as coming and what actually comes are two different things. Something shown as coming Thursday came Saturday. Something that came last week is shown as coming today.

Slow delivery is frustrating, but just as frustrating to me is the lack of tracking updating and information. I'm really tired of the "Your package is arriving later than usual and is in transit to the next destination" message with no updates as to where the darn thing is or what's going on. I checked on two shipments yesterday that were ordered on 2/9, scheduled to arrive on 2/12, still in transit, and the last tracking update was 2/10 :banghead:

Gentlemen ,I have sent a handful of items in the last couple of months and learned to send everything " EXPRESS MAIL INSURED " ,they guarantee it will be delivered by a certain time on a certain day or you get a complete refund of your shipping and Insurance charges ! It costs quite a bit more in most cases but it actually has worked every time ! I have sent items from Pa. to Illinois and they arrived in two days ! As an example 2 Day Priority Insured was 91.00 and some change and the lady said Priority was running three weeks behind ,Express was 161.00 and some change but it arrived four hours early on the correct day ! I mentioned to the lady at the post office that assured me it was Covid related why the mail was so far behind ,I wondered if she found it miraculous that if you were willing to pay more everything worked just fine Covid or no Covid ! She just stared at me like I had Two Heads !!!!!!!!

I swore by Priority mail and even bragged on their service. After multiple frustrating experiences most recently I switched over to UPS and just package it well. Did send a small package to Phx today by Priority mail. 90 miles away lets see how many weeks it takes to get there.

UPS wanted over 300.00 for the same 2 Day service I paid Express mail $160.00 for and FED EX was even higher ! I told the guy $80.00 for shipping but I knew Priority wasn't getting there for weeks ,so I just bit the bullet !

I am beginning to believe Priority service is substantially affected by gravity. I sent a package to Spencerport NY in late September and it took 14 days. Spencerport is roughly 400 miles North of me. I had a package delivered today, mailed two days ago, from that same town.

well Edgar

the bridge is out over the canal there and the PO is south of the canal-

so the delivery man would have to remember to go a little east or west to another bridge and not sit to wait out the red light at the normal crossing

on the other hand - our friend would already be south of the canal when he entered your package into the system

Priority Mail means that they will supply packaging, which isn't free, and deliver your package at there convenience. I don't ever see any U.S. government agencies making guarantees.

A month ago had what started out as a simple transaction here. One month later, two checks drawn by the buyer and sent to me, and still nothing. What ever happened to "Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night" ? Guess they should have inserted "Covid19"

Frank Cronin
02-27-2021, 09:28 AM
I spoke to the USPS guy behind the counter to ask why my check for a transaction I did was in some "black hole" somewhere in the tracking history. He said to me the reason why is if one person in a warehouse or a facility gets a positive COVID test result, all of that person's co-workers get a 14 day stay at home isolation. The Nashua NH facility was down for like a month and all the mail was sent to the Springfield MA location thus increasing workload there causing huge delays. He also said the previous USPS Postmaster changed the logistics that some people are blaming this mess for. Even today, they are still delivering Christmas cards and the guaranteed service will not be honored for sometime. Even the Overnight service. The package / letter will get there but who knows when it will get there. He did say it may improve in March. It is a complete fiasco.

Paul Ehlers

Our governor just moved the vaccine goal posts again & starting March 5th all postal workers will be eligible to get the shots.

This could help with the mail service locally, but I'm wondering how many USPS workers will step-up to the plate & get them, when all it takes is one co-worker to test positive & you get a two week vacation?:rolleyes:

Sold some stuff to a PGCA member here, and it arrived reasonably promptly. Not so with the payment. Original check arrived after a month. Buyer issued a second check several weeks ago. It has been out for delivery for weeks. Seems like the USPS service has deteriorated badly during Covid. My mail carrier says recent hires spend more time out, playing the Covid card than they do delivering mail

I mailed Giacomo Sporting, in NY, a check on March 3. I instructed Marissa to please hold the gun being repaired until my check cleared the bank. I don't know if they did but I am scheduled to receive my MX-8 on Thursday of this week, according to tracking.

If that is the case it will have taken only 8 days for them to have received my check (from the day I mailed it), waited for it to clear the bank, and ship the gun to me. We'll see if it actually comes Thursday, but I'll bet it will.

I wouldn't ask for better mail service and UPS service than that.

I see your problem right off Rick. The huge clue is that the mail had to cross the Sheepscot River on Rte 1 in Wiscasset, ME - probably the most prone to traffic tie-ups in the East.

A guy from Virginian sends me a check. After 10 days it comes back to him as undeliverable. He calls me up reads the spelling of my name, my complete address; everything is correct. He wire transfers the money. I have it the next day. Sad state of affairs over there at the USPS.

I may have the new record for delayed mail with the USPS. Art's in Hillsboro Missouri restores a Funken signed Pigeon grade for me. I send him a check on February 10th for the work. A month later I have to give them a credit card because the check never shows up. Today Art's returns the check, via US mail, to me that they just received in the last few days; A full six months after I sent it to them. Unbelievable!:banghead:
