Rock Island Auction has a listing for a 20 ga VH. Description includes the fact “the barrels will not separate when action is cocked”. Does this mean you would have to fire shells in both barrels before gun could be opened?

Can this problem be corrected easily and at a reasonable cost?

I’m guessing that means you can’t remove the barrels without dry firing it first. Not an uncommon problem. Bryan Dudley can probably give you an idea as to how difficult or not it is to correct.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully that is the case, however I was assuming it may have meant that the barrels might not separate if the gun was loaded without firing both barrels.

No, what it means is that the barrels will not come off the receiver, not that the gun can't be opened and unloaded. This is a common problem that has been discussed here many times. Dry firing the gun usually allows the gun to be "taken down".
