I was contacted yesterday by Jesi Bennett of Cody firearms records who was kind enough to let me know that they are now mostly up and running on performing searches and providing research letters. They are looking for Ithaca serial numbers to test their game. They are doing searches for members and providing letters for all. The cost of the letter is $75. As I am still in SD I have not pursued any further details with Jesi so that's all I can offer up for now. I may give her a call on the way home from chasing Phez. If anyone gets any more info please update us.

It is good to hear that something like this is happening for Ithaca guns.

Jesi emailed me yesterday too. She was responding to my email to Cody back in 2017.
It's been at least 5 or 6 years since Walt sent all of his research material to Cody.
I'm glad they're doing some trials before they open it up completely.

I’m glad to hear this, I have few NIDs and a SBT I’d like to get information on.
Thanks

When I was at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in September 2014, for the Remington Society seminars there were several file boxes from Walter Snyder on the receiving racks at the McCracken Research Library. Mary Robinson, the Director, wasn't keen on my offer to inventory them!!

can you please post the contact info for Ithaca research letters? my online search for Cody arms lists Winchester, Marlin LC Smith etc etc but I see nothing about Ithaca or Fox Guns. Thanks in advance

I don’t know if it has been officially announced yet. I got the impression they were trying it out on those who contacted them a few years back asking if they were yet ready to provide research letters a couple of years after Walt had sent them all of his material. Again, I had asked back in 2017.

I’m glad to hear that we’re getting close to being able to request letters on our older Ithaca Crass, Lewis, Minier, and Flues models, however when talking with Walt Snyder a few month ago, the NID records were still in his hands, not sure on the SBT records.
Me and Shane had the pleasure of visiting and shooting with Walt in August 2019, what fun it was to dig through the NID Ithaca invoices and shipping records.

I'm glad to see better quality letters coming, but damn! You can shoot a lot of shells for the price of a letter nowadays, especially when you don't know what you're gonna get!

I've been waiting 8 months for a Cody letter on my Grade 5E Knick Single Barrel Trap. Apparently Walter has not handed over the custom order books that likely contain my serial number.

Jason, have you contacted Walt?
He's very approachable and will answer your questions quickly.

Speak of the devil. Finally received my letter last night. Now to do some research on the original owner.
