I recently came to own Parker Bros. 20 gauge double barrel shotgun. I have looked up the serial number and found it to be manufactured in 1906. Other than that I can't figure out what model or grade. It has definitely been used but taken care of. It has engravings or etching on the entire barrell. Serial number is 137705. Numbers all match throughout the gun. It has a lot more stamped markings than most I've seen online. Appreciate any information anyone can give me. Thank you.

You need to post detailed pictures of your gun to receive accurate comments.

Welcome Sean. You can look here for help identifying which grade it is. http://parkerguns.org/pages/grades.html
Although like Steve said if you can post some decent quality pictures you will learn a lot more from the folks here.

now the question is - What are the bores like - Much pitting?

have it checked by someone who knows vintage double to make sure its in safe condition and then get some RST shells for it http://www.rstshells.com/

if you let the members know where you are we might be able to recommend some one near you

but - a graded 0 frame 20ga :corn:

i hope where ever you are its upland bird country -

That's great news! The gun needs a good cleaning then I will be able to better answer the questions about the notes. I literally got the gun today and am finding new things by the minute. Feels like Christmas morning!! I live in New Boston NH but also have property in Kansas where this gun will eventually end up. I would gladly take any advice on preservation or recommended services close by. Thanks again for everyone's information.

Sean, you should really take Dean up on his offer. He is honestly a wealth of Parker knowledge.

Sounds great. Thank you for helping me with this gun. I also have another gun I got in the same estate sale. It's not a parker bros. but a spanish upland bird gun. How do we go about getting info to each other?

An excellent gunsmith in New England is Cullity & Son (Dan & Ryan) in East Sandwich, MA ph 508 888 1147. I've taken a few guns there to be checked and work performed.

No question about the quality of Cullity's work but I'll examine his gun at no charge... and I'm closer and quicker. Sean and I have already communicated.
