Looking at a 0 frame EH 16 with 4 croill damascus.
The wood on the gun is nice, wear looks right, checkering definitely grade 2, but the stock sports a SSBT, that looks original, by fit, finish and wear. My question is, how unusual would this combo be? Gun is not in the book.

It would be out of the ordinary. If a letter could be had, I would think there would be mention of it.
Keep in mind that grade 2 and grade 3 checkering is the same. No drop points on the cheeks?

I have a quality 2 10 gauge lifter with a skeleton steel butt plate. It is mentioned in the letter and there is a charge for the upgrade.

I thought the EH designation was for 10 gauge guns only(?) It would be really cool to have such a 16.

My mistake, it is a G grade

Looks good to me. Order a letter if you have not already.

I have a beautiful little 1 1/2 frame ejector 12, GHE, with Damascus barrels and skeleton butt, English walnut, 159,000 range, all features mentioned in the PGCA letter. By "not in the book" do you mean the Serialization Book? There is life beyond the Serialization Book, like a PGCA letter giving order book specifications.

Twenty-gauge Lifter probably a Grade-0 with a skeleton steel butt plate but no checkering and no engraving.

I agree Bill. There are records remaining, I will negotiate with the seller to be patient until I see fact letter.

The wood is dark from age, dirt but looks like English walnut to me. Does the receiver water table have a 2 or G and does the fore end wood match the butt Mark? Nice little gun Jim

I get all the questions, but that is one beautiful gun!

I think I would be a bit excited because everything I see in the photos are pluses compared to a typical Grade 2.

I’ve got a circa 1891 I believe it is GH 12 on a 1 frame that has a skeleton plate and the serial number in the wood under the trigger guard matches .
