I inherited a MANTON percussion pistol. Upon taking the barrel off, I found “London Fine Twist” on one side and multiple markings on the other.
I attached a few pictures. Can anyone shed some light=ght on what I have?

Looks like a modified long gun.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if this is a true Manton or a cheap reproduction using the Manton name, considering the markings on the gun itself..

Mark,
I agree with Dean. The Manton pistols I've seen on the internet show a more robust curve in the pistol grip. Manton lochs had three vertical pins behind the hammer from what I can see. Do you have more pictures? Below, above, both sides?

Mark,
The tang and hardware are different than what I've seen on Manton's for sale. Though a shotgun you can see the difference https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/shotguns/manton-company-shotguns/joseph-manton-percussion-sxs-shotgun.cfm?gun_id=101354491

Is there a picture available of a Manton shotgun with a pistol grip? That was one of the main issues that I based my previous comment on.

An original pistol would not have those sort of lines. It is a cut down long gun.

The proof marks are Belgian - it's a low quality knock-off complete with a 'JM' mark. Bore is 17.2 mm = .677" = 15 gauge

I have a J Manton Co. 20 ga hammer gun marked London Fine Twist--Belgian gun I believe from the proof marks. I shoot and hunt with it regularly.

That pistol does not look anything like the quality of a true Manton English pistol and the proof marks are not English as well.
