A thought crossed my mind the other day (it happens occasionally), and I was wondering what the rest of you think. Sometimes I get lost in some of the terminology used when describing or discussing these guns. I am at a loss of where to go to get definitions or explainations... Such things as "dam 2 or dam 3... back action"..etc, etc. Is there a place to go to get clarification? If not, could it possibly made part of this site?? Just curious.... Thanks again... Don.

Have you gone to the main PGCA page and followed the links on the left side of the page?

Look at the links under the "Collector Information" section. In there you will find answers to all of these and more. The "Historical Information" page has a link at the bottom that will lead you to a wealth of information on Damascus (dam); the "Grades" page has a section on back action guns; the "Technical Information" page shows the working parts and has links at the top that leads to some production statistics; The "FAQ" ages has links off that explains even more. If you haven't seen it check it out.

But, good suggestion. If you have something specific that you don't find in all that let me know and I'll see what we can do to add the topic. I'm always looking for general aids that we can add to the site.

Or spend $35 and buy the Parker Identification and Serialization Book.

An excellent source for the information you seek is the book The Shotgun Encyclopedia written by John Taylor. This is a great reference book!
