First off, THANK YOU, Mike for pulling off this shoot in unprecedented times. i was waffling whether to attend, and am glad I went. No, not a big crowd, but a nice crowd with many of the familiar faces seen at past shoots. Our shooting group consisted of buddy Brett Hoops, Frank Cronin, Chuck Bishop and Randy Roberts who "set the bar" high for our group. There were 3 courses of very challenging targets. This spread us all out, and it is a nice facility--Mike has done alot of work there. Chuck was shooting his little GH 28 very well--when he could keep Brett from drooling over it. I shot best with my little grouse gun, a very beat up 20 VHE--I was very happy with how I shot it.
There was social distancing and drinks in the parking lot of the Hampton Thurs night with Craig Larter, Rick, Mark Kircher, Jeff Steigmier, and our group. Some wonderful guns surfaced at the tail gate. Friday night, we kind of took over the campsite of Brian Dudley, Ken Snyder, and Chris Shaw, a very relaxing and enjoyable eve. Ernie Hausmann and Morris Baker showed up for the afternoon, and Ernie definately wants to have his shoot next year .I didnt take many pictures, so I will let others post their's( mine would be upside down anyway) The final actually wraps up today, but I had some comittments and left Sat. afternoon in time to get home before dark--a 6 1/2 hr drive. The Rock was definately worth the drive!

Thanks for the report, I had hoped to attend, but had to cover the On Call for work this weekend. I wanted to bring along a Lefever I picked up at Christmas time last year to get some opinions from those that are more familiar with them. Looks like it’ll be next year.
Take care,
Tim.

Harold if you want to send me your pics via FB messenger, I have had success orienting them properly in the past and I would be happy to post them for you.

Thanks for the report! Sounds like it was a good time, I sure wish I could have been there.
One of the items on my agenda is to attend a couple of the shoots back east once I get my knee's fixed & the virus crap is over with. I would very much like to meet my fellow PGCA members in a laid back fun venue like this.

Much fun! Thanks to Mike and Mrs. Mike for hosting! Class act -well run. and much needed IMO.
Great seeing many PGCA friends again and for the first time. We only stayed 1 night as we had a small mouth bass charter set up for Saturday.
A few pics attached.

As others have written the event was well orchestrated by Mike, Susan and Tadd; and it was good to see, talk and shoot with so many friends. Here are some random pics including two of the booths, Daryl dislodging a wad from his 32" 20b Sterlingworth (expand and check out that knock-out rod), and two pics of the Manufacturer's Cup in progress at the 5 stand. The LC Smith team is shooting in both pics.

Harold said it!
Mike, Susan and their wonderful staff make everyone feel so at home! Mike even delivered some delicious eggs to the campsite for our breakfast from 'Brewster' the rooster's hens. For those that haven't tent camped The Rock, Brewster has a little problem with the big and little hand on his clock......
Amazing weather, beautiful setting, excellent facility and great friends, a truly welcome break!
Can't wait till we can do it again and many thanks to all that made it so much fun!

We had warm but not too hot weather. Sunny every day, high in the mid 80's. I shot with Randy Roberts, Harold Pickens, Brett Hoop, and Frank Cronin. We had tons of fun! In the picture of our squad, Randy and I shared my 28ga. Parker. Randy had an outstanding shoot, brought back a lot of "bling." Team Parker came up 11 shots short in the Manufacturers Cup. L to R in the picture are Randy Roberts, Daryl Corona, Chris Griscom, Mike Smith, Dave Fjelline. We had 2 shooters shooting 28ga. guns which cost us some targets but probably not enough to win. L.C. Smith team broke 100 x 125 and Parker broke 89 x 125 and came in 2nd. Morris Baker kept bringing over some rare and some high grade lifters for us to ogle over. Dave Fjelline gets the prize for longest distance shooter when he showed up from California. For once in my life, I shot too good to make the amateur/pro shootoff! Such is life!
P.S. No, the banner and tablecloths didn't show up but we found some to use!

It was great to have a contingent of young shooters also . Stan Hoover brought his son, and the other gentleman from the York area( darn, cant remember his name) always brings his sons to shoot also--and yes they can shoot very well, and are very well mannered young men. They are Ithaca fans, and have some really nice guns. Stan and I compared our Ithaca 4E 16's--his with cocking indicators and mine made before his without cocking indicators. Should have shot my Lefever G 16,or my PH 20, but opted for my VHE 20 on my final round

My best friend told me he could teach me to become a better shot, and of course I asked how
1. I have to shoot one gun only.
2. It has to be an OU.
Told him no thanks, I'll just have to settle for mediocre--and just have fun.

That’s the very PGCA banner I’ve been talking about for a month now.
Where’d that one thrn up from?.... must have also come with the missing tablecloths.

Chuck Bishop
08-02-2020, 09:19 PM
Nope, the banner came from our buddy Mr. Suponski and the tablecloths (2 ) were sent by Brian Hornicek. Don't know where or how they go them. Were they the missing items? Don't know but they didn't indicate they got them from the Vintage Cup last year or I think they would have said so.

Pretty strange, but I’ll drop my quest to find them - they’ll turn up someday...

I think I saw a bunch of LC Smith shooters cleaning with maroon patches..... just funning you.
But fun it was!
Highlights.....Hats off to Randy Roberts aka ...Have Long Barrels Will Travel, very impressive shooting handicapped as he was with the antics of Harold and I.
Rock Mountain you all ROCK! I thought it wonderful to see a Boy Scout Troop work as trappers. I greatly appreciated seeing the youth award. Very nice prize!
Lancaster County was represented well by their youth S x S shooters. I heard more than one comment of “ quick hands and good eyes”!
Pro/Am event - shot like a Protector was added entertainment, and great fun to watch.
Entertaining targets - I went 6 x off the trampoline so like someone said prior “more trampoline “. Now the Rock Mountain version of the rabbit.... think it got a new name “Expletive Kangaroo “ because rabbits don’t hop that high. Well they maybe do there in the Endless Mountain country because I did see a bobcat driving in. I managed to not hit the bobcat, didn’t hit any of the kangaroos either. We got a good dose of grouse coming out of trees, and squirrel gliders jumping off the mountain tops. Little bitty black squirrel gliders.
Very interesting use of different colors. My compliments to Mike, you made all the courses fun and I am looking forward to getting another shot at them next year.

Just got back and got the truck unloaded, now to sort through that mountain (no pun intended) of stuff. this was my first trip to the Rock. I had heard nothing but positive comments about the facility and the quality of the targets in the past. I can say without doubt that the targets, the facility, and the event in question lived up to the hype, I had a really great time. Special thanks to Brett, Frank, Harold, and Chuck for letting me hang out and shoot with them. We all got along well and had a really good time. There were also several folks there that I had never met in the past so I made a lot of new acquaintances as well. Please do put this on your list for next year, you will not be sorry. Now off to sort through that mountain of stuff. Almost forgot, special thanks to Mike and Sam, great job !

Just saw on the Lefever forums where Daryl Corona won the Uncle Dan Cup competition. Good shooting Daryl--were you shooting that little 20 H grade?
Brian Dudley

There was a provision that a smaller bore size would bump a larger size on tied scores, but Daryl Didnt need it as he took high overall with the 20g.

Yes I was Harold. For me there is just something magical with these smallbores and that little H grade just points like my finger. All three of my wins were with smallbores. One with the Parker 28, one with the Lefever and one with a Wm. Ford 20 hammer.
Next time I really want to shoot with you and Brett with Mista Bishop thrown in for good luck. Great seeing everyone again and not seeing everyone walking around with a mask for a change.:banghead:
BTW- Great shooting Randy. Would love to shoot with you next time we are blessed with one of these events.

Enjoy your victory Daryl while you can. Next year I'll be gunning for you on all fronts. The Optimus (although it's a 16), Boss 20 hammer and my VHE 28 skeet. :rotf: I'll throw in the Fox 410 just for fun. Seriously though good shooting my friend:bowdown:

Daryl we are going to have to make that happen. We had our regular squad of 5 and just sort of went with it as it unfolded. The other 4 fellas left Town and it was my intent to shoot the main with you unbeknownst to me that you were not shooting the main. Maybe I will have a 28 gauge Parker by the next event, if not Chuck doesn't seem to mind my borrowing his. Come to think of it why should I buy one ? This seems to be a pretty nice gig eh !
Congrats on your fine shooting as well.

Daryl
Congratulations, I figured you had that achievement when you shot your 28ga in the Manufactures match.
You know you can count on me to provide an exemplary study in how not to shoot each station. This is my purpose and contribution to any group. Looking forward to next opportunity.

Darn Randy if I had known you were looking for a partner, Mike Smith, you and I would have made a good squad. As it was you would have have given me a reason to shoot the main. If you want you may borrow one of my 28 Parkers to shoot the event.
Damn fine shooting on your part taking the Ironman. Glad you liked the Rock.

I ended up shooting with Dave deFernelmont and Terry Reckert. A couple of fine Gents even if they were shooting LC Smith's. Thanks for the offer on the 28. That's a dandy gun. Maybe some day I will stumble across one.
