New Parker in 1872

Ever wonder what a new Parker shot gun would look like, in a Parker low trunk case #615 with a box of Parker bros Metallic shot shells with the UMC label under neath. Parker simply applied their label over UMC's label, The case is a careful copy of an original that I had and was in very bad shape, Mr Kevin McPhail did the case exactly as th old one. The gun is ser #2552 a10 gauge pin lifter chambered for the 10-A shell as seen in the box. The gun was bought from Josh who had it advertised as a 12 gauge, but it is a 10 gauge. I got my pin lifter out to look at it I forgot the serial no of it it turned out to be 01500...a 11 ga with 29 inch barrels and decarbonized barrels to me they look just like the plain steel barrels I have... I have no 11 ga shell but I shoot 12 ga low power in it..it will split the case sometimes...charlie

Charlie, I believe that the "Plain Steel" barrels are pretty strong, I had a 12 gauge plain steel gun that I shot Federal dove loads in, never had any problem, but again the barrels looked like a piece of 3/4" Galvanized pipe they were so thick, I had a 11gauge but it was chambered at the factory for 12-A shells, I figure your gun is so early that no records are available for it? Gary, Thanks for sharing this! That is a wonderful gun and case. I like that that the case was made like an original that Parker offered. I need to work on getting some nice cases and accessories myself.

Everything looks so nice all together and those original loading tools/shell box/primer and so forth. And...what a beautiful early lifter!

I too think the plain steel barrels are pretty strong I have one that is a 10 ga in fact I have 2 of the plain steel barrel guns...the best I can figure out all of the plain steel barrels were made in the year of 1875....these early lifters were works of art they open and shut better than any of my other parker guns..charlie
