I just bought a parker {today] 12 Ga. up lifter shotgun Serial #8739 [straight grip] 30 in. barrels dated march 28 1875. The gun mechanically is exc. and the finish is very good with light pitting in the barrels. the only exception is the gun had been blued at some point. The wood has exc. figure. Now my dilemma is whether to bring it back as a project or have it checked out and use it as a shooter. I am interested in any opinions or input. The rib says plain twist with the usual parker I. D.
Thanx

Well it’s a lower grade Parker and being previously blued, have it checked out by a competent double gunsmith and use low pressure RST 21/2” shells in her

I think I remember this one from Gunbroker. Just get it checked out and enjoy it if it is safe

You are right it did come from Gunbroker but the price was right less than 240.00 shipped.

Robert you should post some pictures on here so you can get a better idea of what you’ve got to work with as far as shooter or restoration. Sometimes a Parker selling in that price range has serious issues.

All numbers match and as I said it was blued at some point and a well done old repair to the stock it locks up solid and the barrels have light pitting. The stock has very nice grain. I will have it checked out and if found safe will shoot 2.5 low pressure shells. I will try later to post pictures.
