My friend Mike will answer to any of those three nicknames along with one or two others :)
Here he is with his new to him VHE 32-inch VR Pigeon gun, straight gripper to boot. First time out with it today and starting to get in tune for the Southern. He even let me shoot her! Notice how he's under the radar with his Fox and Lefever hat and pullover.

Sadly Mike looks good no matter what garb he threw on after breakfast.
Is that a single trigger or am I not seeing the two? I'm sure it's got plenty of choke in it for him to create smokeballs in the hills.:)

Beautiful wood on that one. As for the owner, well, uh, probably just a long winter and a lack of oxygen to the brain. But then again he hasn't been able to dress himself appropriately since the demise of Garanimals for adults. He'll pull out of it soon. :corn:

Mike can share more details. What I know is the VHE is single trigger, 1-1/2 frame, safetyless, tight IC left and Full choke right. Yes you read the chokes correctly. He broke some clays today!!

1931 mfg VHE 32” high rib, single selective trigger, straight stock, 1 1/2 frame, 14 1/2” LOP, 1 3/8”- 2 3/8”, medallion is engraved “FKS”, F (.33)RT and IC (.12) LT, BTFE and weighing in about 8 lb 13 oz.
I have a Parker letter and have G&H info too. Somewhere between 1931 and 1947 the stock was changed from capped pistol grip to English. Still haven’t found who FKS was?
How’s that?

Randy, don’t knock Garanimals. It keeps it simple!! Kind of like denim, black tees and plaid shirts. Always appropriate and never out of style. 😁

8 lb-13oz on that frame, WHOA. That one came out of the Men's Department for sure. It has to be a real joy to shoot. It surpasses my 34" VR gun with a PG wide comb trap style stock by some 7 oz. I must have missed that when you first told me of it. I'm envious. Congrats on that one.

Yeah that's a better fit Mike. Lots of diesel smoke on the course today.
Thanks for letting me shoot her. Those dimensions are just about perfect for me (read: smoke balls). :)

Where does the "Griffith" moniker come in?

Where does the "Griffith" moniker come in?
Eugene C. Griffith, an "amateur" shooting a Parker was winner of the 1901 GAH at Live Birds. Griffith had shot only about 300 live birds before the GAH and he went on to best 21 other straights including many professional shooters. A real success story and a good read in the Pigeons in the Park chapter of the McIntosh Fox book.
Here's a fuzzy cut of the 22 straights copied from the American Field. Griffith in rear row, far right. Ansley Fox in front row, 4th from left.

LOVE the sweatshirt!!!
Yet when I pressed to have Fox hoodies to sell you guys laughed at me!!! It is now a "gettin' dirty" hoodie instead of a dress up for shootin' hoodie.
