I bought a box of the 3.5 inch shells in number 9 last year. Three dead turkeys and one lost shell plus one left over. I bought a box of 20 gauge that were mislabeled in the box, said 9s but were 7 & 9 duplex. Called Federal and they told me to send them back and they would replace them. I questioned them, "you mean right in the middle of turkey season? Send me another box" which they did. I never had a turkey come when I had the 3' Beretta O/U out with a turkey tube in the top barrel and a modified in the bottom with regular shot for close in work.

I also bought the .410s and this year hope to go 12 ga vintage gun with 1 1/4 ounce (reloads since they don't make them yet), then 20 3" A5 or Beretta, then finally .410. That's pretty optimistic though.

And after buying all of them last year Federal now has 10% rebates. The 3.5" 12s are less than $50 a box before rebates.

A friend loaded some 410's for Harry's new gun. I bought some 12 gauge, but that stuff looks pretty strong. Might use it in the Heavy Duck

i figure these are pretty stiff loads to mills...jerry it sounds like you are going to be busy trying to kill turkeys with all them loads...i did see some where some body is loading the 2 3/4 inch shells with sst shot and they where 2 ounce loads...last night i called my grandson cole and told him i had bought these shells he said you gona have too borrow his gun because all you got is an old single barrel to shoot them 3 1/2 inch shells in...he was right so now i guess i ll be carrying a black gun...but i just solved that problem i got those adapters to shoot the 12 ga shell in my old 10 ga parker..i have killed a few turkeys doing this before... who knows i may use my 8 ga to 12 ga adapters in my old 8 ga davenport....now if i can just get myself up at 3.30 in the morning i ll be ready for turkey season...charlie

I dunno. Rather than spending $13/shell, I think I'd buy a good decoy and take a lesson on my call

Since I don't have a camera crew at my back for my hit TV hunting show, knowing what any of my guns will do, when the fooled with birds step inside my forty yard circle and the head is up, I am shooting. A bird in the hand at $10 each is worth two cripples in the bush at fifty cents per shell. Hunting three weeks in a row, as I did last year, to get three birds gets old fast. Spending $1000+ on a gun, I can afford the best shells at 1% of its cost.

Decoys lock up birds out of range 50% of the time expecting it to come to him in my experience.

Last year tested even my patience. Turkeys seem to be harder to get in recent years.

once a turkey gets educated with hunters hes nearly impossible to get a shot at....today i got out some of my turkey guns and repattered them...heck i have shot these same guns for 40 years or better so i know what they will do but still each season i get them out and pattern them with same old ammo....have not shot any of the tss stuff yet... i pattered my dads old smith wesson 1000 model 3 inch mag gun it really likes those remington nito brand 3 inch no 5 lead shot...got my old ithaca 3 1/2 inch automatic out and shot it a coupla times with 3 1/2 inch mag. no 4 lead this gun will bring the turkey home...also shot the 8 ga davenport single barrel useing a 10 ga adapter in it it pattered real good with those no 4 3 1/2 inh mags...charlie
