There was a Remington 1889 on there recently also that was stamped Nitro proof .

Ive never seen twist called tiger damascus kind of has a nice ring to it lol .
Theres a PH 10 ga on there pretty cheap with some striking twist colors on the barrels . Im guessing they have been refinished by someone . None of the ones ive seen before have been this black and white .

Parker Brothers 1893 Catalogue
“Our guns are bored on the latest improved system for shooting Nitros, or Smokeless Powder, and all our guns are tested with some one of the most approved makes, and a tag accompanies each gun, giving the results of such a (pattern) test.”


The Parker listing in the 1902 Sears catalog said "ALL ARE BORED FOR NITRO POWDER"

I am not aware of Parker pressure data c. 1900, but the Parker Service and Proof Load table was published in the 1930s and reproduced in the The Parker Story p. 515. 12g 2 3/4” shell Service Pressure is 10,500 psi. Definitive proof used 7.53 Drams Black Powder and 2 oz. shot with a pressure of 15,900 psi. The pressure was no doubt measured using LUP and modern transducer values would be 10-14% higher, or more than 17,500 psi.

LTC Calvin Goddard reported the same numbers in “Army Ordnance”, 1934. He wrote that Parker followed the SAAMI standards of that period: 13,700 psi proof, 9500 psi service for 2 5/8” chamber; 15,900 psi proof, 10,500 psi service for 2 3/4” chamber (by LUP) + 10-14% for modern transducer measurement.

i have seen a few PH 10's that maintained good color- I wonder if they just were not shot that much for some reason

Milton's 1890 NH does have impressive "black & white" colors, esp. with the degree of wear on the action

In the middle of the right barrel is an "end-on" ribband where the thinner mid-barrel ribband was folded into the thicker breech segment ribband.

There's a lot to unpack on this one.

Nitro-proofed tiger striped Damascus barrels, Barrels checked by gunsmith but he doesn't work on Parkers, action wont cock, wood repairs & cracks, but other than that she's cherry with low miles owned by a little old lady who only shot it at church picnics to start the three legged race! :shock::eek:

And the $100 DH "Doctors Grade/Gun" sold for $72.85? Quite a discount from Sears. Others with big discounts as well. I guess no one paid full price unless ordered directly from Parker?

Parker pricing can be confusing. I had a 1907 VH that sold for $50.. Also own a 1917 PH that sold for $27.

I saw that one as well. Seems like it has been for sale for at least a month. Not too long ago Collectors Firearms out of Houston had a Parker(lifter I think) listed as nitro proofed. I also saw the one Milton posted and do like how those barrels were refinished.

I have always wanted a PH with twist barrels and just picked up a #2 frame 12 gauge this past weekend. I will post some pictures in another thread. A fair amount of twist pattern is still on the barrels.

All the Parker twist patterns I have seen the colors weren't that saturated .
I like it but it looks "off" from all the other Parker twist barrels ive seen. Perhaps who have had them done requested them to look like that .

Ive put a deposit on a 10 ga NH , not that one but one I think is alot nicer to me personally .


Ive thought of picking up a PH 16 later in the year , theres one on GB that weighs 5/15 . I havnt seen many sub 6lb 16 gauges .
