Restoration?

GB Item No. 853749016. I think so, but the screws and recoil pad look to the contrary. The trigger guard is way too much. The barrels are too nice, and the receiver looks polished out. Wonder what the wall thicknesses are. Might be a nice shooter at that price. I have no interest in it other than mild intellectual curiosity. Others?

the recoil pad is - IMHO - maintenance more than restoration.

but you nailed the big question- wall thickness (and over all barrel condition)

if that passes muster and the price is right it should be a good shooter

the screws look pretty good

overall restoration may put the new owner under water on it

Except for the trigger guard it all looks original to me but possibly had tru-oil applied over the original wood finish.

Of course having it in hand would be a better way to assess its condition.

What is your actual question? What is original and what isnt?

My original question, though inartfully expressed, was "Has this gun been restored?" My thoughts were that it had, although the recoil pad certainly leans the other way. Thanks.

“Restored” would not be the word to use. Maybe some inaccurate refinishing in a few areas.
The guard has been reblued. And the frame looks to have been polished bright by one means or another. And maybe some finish added to the wood.

The gun looks like it is still a good candidate for a shooter, or for proper restorative work to be done to it.
