I have a G toplever hammer gun, sn 61901. Nothing really unusual about it. It was shipped October 9, 1890, to E K Tryon of Philadelphia and the name "Crosby" appears in the order.
How likely is it that Crosby refers to W. R .Crosby? I know a little about him, but know others here know a lot more.
Thanks

The thing is he would have been in his early 20's and most of the info I find on him begins 1897 or so. Looks like he was in to Bakers before Parkers too. 1891 would be early to find a reference to him in the Parker records, but who or what else would it be?

I own Bing Crosby's Model 12. Does that help, Mills?

Drew Hause mentioned a taxidermist named Crosby. Who knows. It might remain a mystery

According to D. H. Eaton, Trapshooting, The Patriotic Sport, William R. Crosby, "T. Bill", was from O'Fallon, Ill., and shot his first pigeon match in Shillo Valley, Ill. in 1879. "He was on of the All-American team that went abroad in 1901."

He used a Smith as part of the 1901 Anglo-American competition, but did great work with a 32" barrel Parker starting in 1906
