Here pictured is a Savage Fox Model B-ST made 1961 at the old Stevens factory in Chicopee, right before the move to Westfield. She is, I believe, unfired since made. Colors on the breech face are pristine. 16 bore with factory Mod & Full chokes that measure more like Light Mod and Improved Mod = nice combo. 28" tubes, single trigger and vent rib with twin sights, walnut stock and beavertail f/e.
I have a similar Winchester Model 21 28-incher in 16 bore that feels about the same when mounted and it cost me many multiples of what I paid for this Model B. Yeah the 21 has a selective single trigger which I rarely switch, and the 21 has ejectors but they're not a big deal to me because I most always catch the hulls in my hand.
Food for thought. Ha !

That is the best era for the Model Bs by way of finishes and appearance.
I have owned a few in 12 and 16g. The only one I have left is a factory cutaway of a Model BSE (VR gun).

Great example! The case colors look perfect.
I have one of the same. They are definitely the best of the B’s. Mine does not have the condition as the posted gun, but it is not too far behind.

I had a 12ga from that era; it also had a vent rib and twin sights, however mine had double triggers and a splinter forend. Probably should have kept it, but...too many guns, too little time.

Wow; great story Charlie. Years ago at the local antique mall there was a "pair" of B's - .410 and 20ga. They were the real early ones with the acid etched duck scene on the bottom of the receiver instead of the line drawing of the fox head that the later ones have. Man, I wanted those guns but I was broke as a dude ranch pony at the time. I even talked to the seller about how to get them but I just never could put anything together to make it happen. Funny how a couple of guns that are pretty low on most folks' totem pole can haunt you, but those still do.

I bought my 20 gauge model B in1955 and the bobwhites started falling! I can still remember the first double I shot behind house with old Duke the setter pointing them! Bobby
