View Full Version : It was the best of guns, it was the worst....

I don't think I can be accused of plagiarism but just in case, let me reference Charles Dickens (who can now gently turn in his grave):
It was the best of guns, it was the worst of guns, it was John's AAHE, it was Jack's "second chance", it was on the same page, it was at the same time.
Here's a screen shot showing random album pictures.
Maybe for a change, I could borrow John's gun :)
Or if it is the age of foolishness, maybe a trade

John was so fortunate to get his grandfather's gun back from Charlie Herzog, who had owned the gun for many years. The gun was an important one in Charlie's collection but when Charlie found out the history of the gun from a new poster ( John D.) who had sold it during hard times, Charlie determined that there had to be a way that the gun would be returned to family possession. To those who were there when Charlie once again returned the gun to John, it was a never to be forgotten moment and there were not many dry eyes around.
There are so many of us with so many reasons to be grateful to senior members of the PGCA and to seek their counsel, and Charlie has done so much for members and the PGCA.

.... his grandfather's gun ... That would be "Great-Grandfathers"...
;)
CAH is "aces" in my book - and he didn't touch a single flaw while in his care for a few years... Each scratch and flaw was just as I sold it - which, is - what it's about...
So, yea - it's what PGCA is all about... PGCA is about the "People". Charlie would be one of those "People" who make PGCA "great"...
Best to you guys!

Yes, and Charlie's guidance and leadership is as valued today as it has ever been. He has given so freely of his resources and time to make the PGCA what it is today. I'm convinced that the climb in value of Parker guns is due at least in part to the pre-eminence of the PGCA in the gun collecting and interest community, and the maintenance of the standards set by the senior leadership.

We can both order off the senior menu at Denney's.
In Des Moines to exhibit Parkers at Pheasant Fest, we ate at the same restaurant a couple nights, with the same 20-something waitress, a nice looking young woman on an extended work through college. We talked with her, teased her, laughed with her, and the second night she said that she "wanted to find a young man like you guys". Still trying to figure what she meant by that.
