It's been a bad week, Winchester 32" solid rib Model 12 Heavy Duck, a Remington Model 11F 28" barrel for Kevin McC., the U grade 10g cased Parker and a very nice Remington Model 11D 30" vent rib...a man can NEVER have enough duck guns...

Tell me about it Don, now I have completed my colection of D grade damascus guns, just bought the 20 gauge that I needed but really didn't need to spend the money right now...I have been looking for that gun for over a year, not the condition that I want but...Just don't tell my wife, this is not a good time and hopefully UPS will deliver it before 5pm (please God....!)
This one has to come into the house unnoticied....

Don ... It would appear that we suffer from the same weaknesses ... Parker Lifter Guns, and Remington Model Elevens ... But I'm still looking for 14 and 16 gauge Parker lifter guns and a high grade Remington Model 11 with a solid or vent rib ... And like you, I shouldn't be buying ANY guns right now.

Eric, you need to re-read Gene Hill's instructions on getting a 'new' gun into the house right under the nose of the CFO.... It can be done!

Thanks for rubbing it in Don....:) Hell if I had known you had bought one I would have just waited you out a few months and bought it from you when you got tired of it :rotf: (I tried that with Dunkle but the SOB held out longer then I could:banghead: and you would probably been the same :cuss:)
Yes Dean I have read Gene Hill's about wifes and guns, my problem is UPS....! My UPS driver knows to deliever after 5 if a signature is needed, see my problem..... I can hope that maybe I get a sub driver on Wed and he comes by mid morning, early afternoon....(Please..!) Trust me this was not the time for that gun to come by:eek: So Don I do feel your pain....:) But damn it's fun.

Do you have the UPS customer center nearby where you live? One time I came home and I noticed they tried to make a delivery and left that note on the door. UPS usually comes later in the day but this time arrived much earlier. I was expecting arrival of my shotgun and knew it needed a signature. I went to the customer center and they got a hold of the driver on his cell. I found out where he was for lunch and picked up my package.
You could find the tracking number and request the customer center have it for customer pick up if there is still time....
Good luck!
Frank

This morning, I was visiting my dear wife of 35 years in the hospital. My cell rang and it was the vendor of the Remington Model 11 D I had bought last night. I had already sent him an FFL and told him to call me for my CC number. The transaction went quickly while the nurse was tending to my wife...after the call my dear looked up at me from the bed and said, "Congratulations, you have yet another gun." Wives are like bird dogs, lovable but it takes persistance, patience and training to make them useful members of the family. Besides, it's her birthday tomorrow. I wonder how she'll like ...her present, the cased Parker U grade lifter?

Gee Eric,
My pointers don't care how many shotguns I carry in! I must agree, I couldn't have pulled off the BD thing when I was married.
The wife of a friend of mine was giving him some grief about buying a new shotgun at dinner one nite. I mentioned that we were hunting the next day and I had to use a hundred year old shotgun. She turned to him and asked Why He couldn't be so frugal!
He didn't even bother to try to explain.

Think of it as exchanging your increasingly worthless Dollars for a hard asset. Our wives should thank us for being so fiscally responsible and financially savvy.

Here at our house we solved this problem by not having a full time live-in house women. The only drawback to this scheme is that Danny usually open,s the gun box's first and promptly assembles the gun. What follow's after that is usually "Hey Dad that new Parker fit's me pretty good" and I say"Great.... that's just great" I lose more good gun's that way.....:banghead:
Don, Best wish's to your wife for a speedy recovery.

When the 401s and the 457s went down the tubes, the shotguns went down a bit slower, at least the Parkers did. I have never gone to a "stock site" on the internet or a "stock show" on a Saturday afternoon and bought common stock for sixty cents on the dollar.

The only time I've had a conversation with my wife over buying a gun was when I wanted (and purchased) a high condition DHE 20 with all the options, SST, VR, BTF straight stock. I needed her consent because she needed to sigh the home equity loan for the purchase:eek:
The second safe was explained, one is for rifles the other for shotguns they don't mix well:rotf:

My wife questioned me about a Parker I had bought and I told her it was functional art.
Now she questions me with " How many Parkers do WE own"? For a woman who doesnt hunt or shoot, she sure knows a Parker when she sees one. JVB

This is the way it goes for me! Can I afford it?Do I really need it? Should I tell my wife about it? The answer to the third question is yes when it comes to Parkers! Yet! there is hidden in my man cave a certain Gibson "Les Paul" that I can not bring myself to tell her that I purchased. I have been pondering over this for several months, I really want to play the thing. but then I will be found out. Do you think I should tell her I bought it? I have to I guess.

Larry ,I would be happy to stash it also , I could tell my " Better Half " I am just keeping it for a friend ! And speaking of friends ,my one Buddy has a Wife that sees absolutly no reason in this world that a person needs more than one shotgun or Deer rifle . My Buddy has this all figured out ,he buys a couple of Five Dollar lottery tickets once in a while for the local Fire Hall ,etc. and claims about once or twice a year to hitting their Gun Ticket ! I always tell him he is going to be missing a couple of much needed body parts  if he gets caught ,but he figures it is worth dealing with !

A good friend of mine, an avid collector of militaria, once said of spousal gift giving..."nothing says I love you like a fine military antique"...his late wife was especially fond of Garands, if I recall, but the Christmas he gave her an adorable little M1 IBM carbine was especially poignant...it had a GI case and two original clips..
