I saw this on the Fox Collectors Website.
I'm certainly no expert but there seems to be some confusion on what should be open and what should be closed.

Oh how I wish I could make a comment. But it would be so inappropriate and I'm still basically a newcomer to this board, but wow do I have a winner cooked up for this one! Jerry It's just too good!

Kinda reminds me of a few lines from "Guadal Canal Diary" and I quote... "This is my rifle and this is my gun.... This is for fightin' and this is for fun!" :rotf:

The barrels seem to be pointed in a safe direction.
Not sure about his horse.....it could escape from the barn at any time.
Looks like a nice little fox anyway.

Makes me wish I were 35 and not 70- Dog may be a golden, having the blaze vest is a good idea in any heavy cover or swale. Not enough detail of his gun for me to be sure of the grade or gauge. I have a Utica mfg. 20 bore Fox Sterlingworth- very fine gun indeed, and it is "chain lightning" on pigeons.
I picked it up a few years ago in hopes we would get a legal dove season- 28" barrels M&F, DT- just a good basic using double- We didn't get the dove season however.
As far as the gentleman in the foto- with his gun closed. Here's my read. I am 99% sure that his gun has empty chambers- But breaking open a double when not in firing situation- clays or game birds- removes all doubt.

Perhaps the broken zipper to demonstrate a "no threat" situation on that front.
