Early ducks will face #4 kent bismuth, late season ducks will face #3 kent tm #3's.

I have a real nice DHE-16 with 28" M/F barrels, English grip, DT, SFE, 6lbs-9oz. I plan to use it out west in late November for wild roosters. I bought it first of the year, sent it to Del Grego back in feb/march for roll joint, black the barrels and guard, replace some bad screws. I did get it back last week, he did nice job and the gun looks wonderful but the ejectors no longer work. So I shipped it back and hope he gets it fixed and back in my hands by mid November for my Kansas hunt. The only thing the gun still needs is the but plate re-blued and the 4 screws replaced then the gun will be a looker...(-: I did not plan to color case of receiver as it still looks good as it is. I plan to send it back to Larry after hunt season ends for this work. Fingers crossed for getting it back for Kansas. SXS Ohio

I hunt grouse around the edges of clear cuts in New Brunswick so occasionally get a long second shot. I'm thinking my newly acquired 0 frame 16 ga Damascus GH bored Cylinder / Full should work great with the 2 1/2" low pressure 7/8 oz loads I've been testing. I've patterned 8's and 9's so far. The plan is to use 8's in the left barrel and 9's in the right. If I get into thick cover or when there are woodcock around I'll throw a spreader load in the left barrel. Same gun will be used on local pheasants with 1 oz of 7 1/2's and Bismuth #4's when duck hunting.
Got to love the 16 for it's versatility!

Doves this afternoon with my 12 CHE bored improved and full with 2 1/2 RST's 7s. Do not think it will be a good shoot, but will enjoy working Babydog Boykin the fellowship and cold beer afterwards. What, when and where will determine gun use after today.

The plan is my Dad’s VH then a 16 VH and then Sir Frederick’s DHE. All will see RST ammo. After that I think a lifter or two should see the field again. Here is what I hope to duplicate with Sir Frederick’s piece. http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=594&pictureid=6834

Hopefully all or most of the ones I have acquired this year. Particularly the ones acquired after the hunting season. Excited about trying a GH 16 on one frame with original 26 inch barrels. It handles better than some of the 0 frames

PSS barrels or Damascus Mills?
I have a 16 ga. Trojan on the 1-frame with 26” barrels that is about as light and quick as any of my 0-frames.

If I do the dove thing tomorrow it’ll be with a 16 gauge VH 26” on an 0 frame . If I’m able to get out this week for early goosing it’ll most likely be an EH 10 on a 3 frame with 32” pipes or an EH 3 frame with 34” pipes or quite possibly a DH 10 on a 3 frame with 32” barrels . If I get an invite for ducks this year it’ll most likely be a 12 gauge DH 3 frame with 28” barrels . And if I plunk a deer with a shotgun this year it’ll most likely be a 10 gauge grade 0 , 4 frame with 34” barrels . I might add the only one of those I’ve hunted before is the EH 32” for a couple deer , the rest have been added since last hunting season .

I hunted with two so far this season. The early goose season opened yesterday in MN and I took out a Grade 0 10 gauge lifter with #2 Bismuth and had the hammers pulled back twice but no shots. Today I took the 28 reproduction out for doves and shot one.

Changing guns is a recipe for poor shooting for me. I follow the recipe every year! However, I generally shoot a gun I've chosen for a particular game bird until I begin to miss...then switch. I switch often.:crying:
PH 12 cpg/splinter for home field doves
(Quality U straight/splinter 12 as the back-up for doves)
Quality 4 Bernard barreled top action 12 for early Teal
DH 16 straight/splinter for MN grouse
GH O framed 16 for home covert Woodcock (factory cylinder choke in the right barrel)
EH 32" Damascus 10 for Fall season turkeys
Grade 3 Hammer 10 for the duck opener in MO
DHE 20 for wild quail in home covers
(AH 16 as the back-up for quail)
BHE 12 #1 frame for late season Kansas/OK quail and pheasant
CH Bernard 12 for the rare occasion I go for home field pheasants
CHE Bernard 16 for February end of season Appalachian grouse

I think you're correct on the changing guns thing .
BUT...……………………………………… ,
I've got so many I wanna shoot and always been relatively decent with whatever I pick up I say to the heck with it and shoot what ever suits my fancy .
Over the years there have been numerous times I went to the dove field with a SxS and an O/U and shot equally bad or well with them both !

Charlie you should take the 8 gauge after some pheasants haha . Ive been researching what kind of birds can be hunted with 8 gauge in my state at least .
What kind of groundball are you using ? Ive found some .820 round balls that are 830grs I think .

For grouse and woodcock I will be taking a GH 16 Damascus 0 frame 28”, a VHE 16 skeet 26”, a PH 16 32” and a 20 VHE 26”. My son will be coming up to Michigan from Florida a few time this year and will most likely be using the 16 skeet. He is left handed and not as use to using double trigger guns. My DDH Milo left us this spring so I am meeting up with him to grab my grand-puppy next week for a couple of months. Oscar is a GSP that shows great potential. I am very excited to have the chance to work with him and hunt with my middle son Derek this fall.

Back from Canada (outside Regina) - good hunt in damp weather - on and off rain throughout. Had opportunities for Ducks Geese and Sandhills and made good on them. My 3 frame 32" DHE combined with KM #3 1 1/14 oz. really reached out when needed on big birds. The 32" VHE was deadly on ducks and a couple Canadas.
I had much fun watching my hunting friends fluster with the lodge issued jam-o-matics. Of course my Parker's were flawless - as expected:). A couple pics of crane decoy spread and 3 frame in a barley field.

Going to a Southern Dove shoot on Sunday. Tron between a top lever gr3 in 12, a Trojan 28" in 20ga, gr3 16 and a gr4 late rem double trap with BFE and Vent Rib straight stock. I might bring them all and decide at the last minute. Any preference amongst youse guys?

Started S Tx whitewing doves with 12 ga $125 grade lifter FF but found out darting diving birds were too much. Needed spreader loads so switched to VHE 28 and bingo limits filled. Also shot 20 ga 30" bbl DHE also choked FF and again I needed spreader loads for doves coming so fast in high winds. So I pulled out old faithful Damascus DHE 28" bbl 16 ga choked IC and F and bingo limits filled. My waterhole lease will be hunted this afternoon for the first time. Mourning doves and plan to start with VHE 28 ga then try lifter again ,newly acquired 20 ga DHE 28" barrels and an AH 12 30" bored IC and Mod simply because I have not shot this gun that much. The smaller gauges seem to be stealing the shoulder-time!!! Will probably report in future PP story on the outcome plus my daughter Perrys new Brittany named Parker!

12 days till opening morning.
I will open this year with my VHE 16 ga 32" 1 1/2 frame F/F SG DT Splinter.
Affectionately named "The Nightmare"
I took her to Canada a couple weeks back and she shot right where I looked! Numerous doubles on decoying Canada geese and mallards
Kent 1 1/16 #5 loads (of which I now have plenty -TY PGCA friends) will again be the preferred load.
Starting in a wood duck pond.
Will be Ellie's first hunt at Vanderbilt.
She is my 2 year old Drathaar taking over for Emma after 8 seasons.
Counting down the days :)

Ron,
I would recommend purchasing a copy of Arizona Atlas and Gazetteer which is a detailed topographic maps by county. Extremely detailed and has larger stock tanks marked. I prefer the area around Wilcox, several large tanks in Dragoon Mountains, back side of the Huachuca Mountains along the Coronado Trail Road (my favorite with 5 tanks between Parker Canyon Lake and Coronado Lookout) and west of Patagonia towards I-17.

Leaving for SD soon and actually just made my mind up on which guns to take for opening of pheasant season, of course we will be chasing Chickens and Sharpies as well. I have settled on two 16 gauge guns. The primary gun will be a 32" VHE, F/F which weighs in at 6-12 and carries pretty easy for me after all the 8 pound target guns. The 2nd will be a 32" DHE, F/F. This gun is on a 1 1/2 frame and is a little heavy but I have fallen for it so it's going for some short walks and blocking sits. Happy and safe hunting to all.
