View Full Version : Barrels Unstuck and fixed

The stuck barrel dilemma is over. The barrel hook screw had a crack that closed completely up when no pressure was on the screw. If you would take it out and look at it, it was fine but any pressure and the screw would not keep the hook in place I guess. How does one break a screw? ( no wise comments at this point ). New hooks didn't matter, as I used the old screw. What a freaking beating! Once I made the new screw for the hook, I also made new screws for the side, the screw that holds the hammer and the little set screws. Just made a new set all the way around. The gun probably didn't warrant it but it got em' anyway. I couldn't look at that chewed up slotted mess any longer. Jerry

The slots were cut with a hacksaw blade that was ground down skinny on the sides. Cuts a very thin slot. Very cheap and very effective. Jerry

Nice job Jerry. If the threads are ok on the old screw you could experiment with having someone microweld it back up and reshape and cut it. Are the side screw threads a standard thread? If not, how did you cut the screw?

I weld a lot of small stuff with a gas welder with a very small tip. I might have to give that a go, as I have 4 of them, two bigger, two smaller. That's a good idea! Thanks! Jerry
