If you have the high score in any side event, do you need to be present on Saturday to receive the trophy, or can you delegate someone to receive it for you?

Austin you would have to contact the Vintagers to get your question answered properly.

And from Tom Snyder today....

.
Gentlemen
This is the final schedule for the Vintage Gunners Cup. If you can post it online for your members that would be a great service. Also your members should book their golf carts soon.
Hotels are booking up so they should get their reservations taken care of. I blocked 80 rooms this year. The Candlewood had 30 rooms blocked and last I checked 2 weeks ago they have 39 rooms booked for us. The Comfort Inn had 20 rooms blocked - they filled but will not give the special rate beyond what we booked. I added 30 more rooms at the Holiday Inn which is next to the Candlewood. The information for the Holiday Inn is online at Vintagers.org.
Also, please let your members know they can go to Vintage Gunners on Face Book for exhibitor information and updates.

FYI : Paul Fuller from Bird Dogs Afield will be with us to video the Vintage Gunners Cup. Look sharp for the camera. I’d like to get a picture of all the associations together for our newsletter. If we get a chance let’s see if we can all sit down together to come up with some ideas to make this a better event for everyone.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the Vintage Gunners Cup and thank you for all you have done to help make the Vintage Gunners Cup better.
One last thing - in an effort to get shooters to stay until Saturday we are having multiple prize draws on Saturday at the very end. If you could donate something it would be greatly appreciated.
Tom Snyder

Special Note: The Long Bird Event proceeds will be donated to the family of 2-year-old Everly Hausmann. Everly is fighting a very aggressive form of cancer. Please join us by donating and shooting this event in our effort to support a member of our shooting community.

There is also a "Go Fund Me" page set up for donations to the Hausmanns:
Help the Hausmann's and Baby Everly Fight Leukemia (https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-hausmann039s-and-baby-everly-fight-leukemia)

The page has a brief summary and a few updates of what is going on. The donation process is very user-friendly, and you can leave a comment with your donation, if you wish.

Just wanted to get this out there for anyone that is not on Facebook or is not attending the Vintage Cup.

Thanks Matt,
I'm hoping to stay all 3 days but at this point my schedule is uncertain. The weather forecast is still looking good and that is a plus.

Matt, at the awards ceremony at Hausmann's in June,an official from the Vintage Cup indicated that they were going to try and get cell phone or internet coverage. Any word on that?

Like most everyone I try to get away with no interruptions but at times the cell might need to be used. Verizon coverage is unreliable at Hidden Hollow with "No Coverage" or maybe 1 bar 1X signal. I don't know about other carriers. My cell phone booster will increase Verizon to 2-3 bars 3G, and voice and texts work just fine. If anyone is planning to use a Verizon cell for family contact or necessary biz while at HH you might ask around with friends etc and see if you can borrow a booster.

Chuck, I don't have the final answer yet. I know we're trying to get a booster or something. I'm checking on the status and will report back. ---Matt

Frank,
Can you explain what a phone booster is, where you can get one and do they come with different capacities?

Does it work well for you?

Cell phone reception can't be much worse than Deep River.

Frank,
Can you explain what a phone booster is, where you can get one and do they come with different capacities?

Marty, I'm happy to oblige. Cell phone boosters are made to provide enhanced voice and data reception in remote areas that have a weak signal due to distance from cell towers or physical obstructions. I bought a Wilson Electronics unit some years ago and more recently got a Fusion2Go made by SureCall. They’re available on Amazon etc. It’s made for vehicles and with a plug in power supply, but I also use it at the hunting cabin up in the mountains where unfortunately the cabin is in a small valley and the signal without the booster will switch between “No Service” and at most 1 bar of 1X, not enough for connection. I’ve adapted the outside antenna (magnetic base, made for a vehicle roof) with an extension lead-in wire and I’ll put it on a bracket just above the roof line, and also use an AC power supply. Signal is increased is to 3 bars 3G and occasional LTE and I can send or receive voice or text any time day or night. Booster setup is moved to the vehicle while hunting out there, it's fairly remote, where it's on standby if needed for an injury or such. I occasionally use it on my side by side ATV while at Hidden Hollow where I get a similar boost. I told Steve Barnett about the booster while there and he bought one too although his is newer and made by another manufacturer. I’ve also used the SureCall at Deep River and can make or receive calls while in the vehicle anywhere on the grounds. Readers should note that the cell phone must be within a foot or so of the inside antenna which is on a cable attached to the booster. I generally will place my phone against it in the console cup holder on my truck and use the cell phone in the speaker mode. Alternately you can hand hold the cell against the inside antenna and use it that way for private calls.

Different capabilities? The more recently made boosters are regulated for 1 watt max output whereas earlier ones made < 2014 were 2-3 watts and the cell phone could be farther away from the indoor antenna. My Fusion is 1 watt.

I have Verizon service and have always found over the years at HH that the best location for transmitting & receiving calls is at the gate or 10-12 ft. into the field that is used for parking, behind where they stage the golf carts. Any other location not on top of a mountain is very problematic at HH.

So I was at an invitational shoot at Hidden Hollow today and checked my iPhone signal (Verizon and without my booster) in the referenced location. Phone readout showed only 1 bar 1X at about 2 pm. Tried to call and text my wife from there but no dice. Everywhere else including on top of the hill course showed "No Service". Now, maybe the atmospheric conditions were unfavorable today or some other factor was at play. Just sayin.

Text messaging works much better than phone at HH.
Wish I could be there! Thinking of cutting my Texas trip short.

I have had AT&T service since 1989 when they first offered wireless service. I have always had good service at Deep River and the first time to Hausmans in June I had service wherever I was at all weekend.

Parking Update:

The parking at the Vintage Gunners Cup has been moved back to the traditional parking area just a short distance away from registration, exhibitors tent and the food vendor. The upper field parking will be used for overflow parking and non-shooters. Non-shooters and people coming just to see the exhibitors will be directed to the upper lot with signs. A shuttle will be running as needed to transport non-shooters to and from the golf cart pick up area near the lower parking lot or to registration building and exhibitor tents. The flurry and the clays pigeon ring have been moved to the upper field to accommodate parking for shooters. It is just a short ride by golf cart or with your vehicle. Parking is free. Our goal in moving the parking area back near the shooting venue is make it as convenient as possible for our shooters and exhibitors. There will be signs directing people to the different parking areas and RV camping areas.

Given that the small bore course and the large bore course are at different ends of the grounds, it may still be helpful get a golf cart.

ALSO, Puglisi Gun Emporium will be there as a vendor.

Still don't have the final info on the cell phone booster. The guys they've have used there before are no longer in business. Still working on it. ----Matt
