I am just finishing a pheasant hunting trip to SD . We stayed in Huron but hunted east of Miller in Orient and parts very close. The hunting was great with times of awesome. We are on a hunting path back to Fayetteville that will go through Nebraska and ending in Kansas for their season opener .
Just a few pics of my dogs : Cohiba , Caymus and Penfolds . I am having a great time with my dogs , G grade and good food . Please find me in Kansas for pheasant hunting and Parker conversation .

John Dunkle was supposed to join us but on his return from Haiti, he needed a doctor, nothing serious and nothing to make jokes about but you all know the disease situation in Haiti and John should get better quickly.

We always hunt in Jerald County a little west of Huron and east of Miller.

I spoke with John yesterday and he sounded tired and a bit scratchy but otherwise in good spirits. He was enjoying his dogs (and vice-versa) when we spoke.

Here we are. The boys wanted to see the Mitchell Corn Palace, then off to the family farm 80 m NW. Perfect weather, lots of birds, everybody limited out , or could have, every day. Birds holding for the dogs, perfect.

We had our pistolero contest.

Picture of Goatboy Jim Hall, the Pied Piper. Don't want to tease Jim very much.....his grandfather died at 92 and he had to leave early. Best wishes in a difficult time. He had been in a nursing home and not well. Jim shot a big rooster ,having it mounted.

It was Charlie Herzog, Jeff Kuss, Jim Hall, Larry Thompson, Pete Kappes, Dave Weber and me. The big black and white dog with the long snout is Larry's new Hampshire setter, at least it doesn't bark incessently. Its a real pig when it comes to eating.

Picture of Charlie and the old beater A grade.

Dunkle didn't make it, sick after Haiti, but we penciled him in for another trip out here.

I was stationed at Ellsworth in Rapid City and at Minot and Grand Forks, and we can get anywhere from 60-70 above to 10 below this time of year. Could be a very pleasant year up there.
