I was cleaning today on orders from she who makes the rules and while making room in a safe I found these two hiding in the back. I have had a good pile of fox guns over the years and always sold them to buy more Parkers :) These two managed to stay and I think they are a good representation of what the competition to Parker was making in the 1920's. Both are 32" 12ga guns.

Cheers

I can see why they stayed!

Patrick, both look pretty good, especially that Super-Fox. Is it a 3-incher?

Some fantastic examples of what fox guns looked like when new.

you need a back door on your safe so you can get in there more often

I think the popular vernacular is "benchmark guns".

That Super-Fox looks more than a bit nicer than the one Long Range was shooting the first time I stopped by Pocatello!!

I have an uncle in law that lives in Sugarland Texas but is originally from Sumter SC . Anyway his father once upon a time had three AH Fox guns . An A grade 12 , an A grade 20 and an HE , When he passed the guns were divided between my uncle in law his brother and his sister . And my uncle in law ended up with the HE .

When he met my aunt he was working as a salesman for Merck Sharp and Dome pharmacuitical company and was operating in the Charlotesville VA area . And during that time he came to know Forrest Marshall .

Forest as I was told took him turkey hunting in Albermarle a time or three and my uncle in law plunked a rather nice gobbler with that HE , The story goes Forrest had the old bird mounted and displayed it in his pharmacy as to it's where abouts any longer I have no idea .

And yes I've tried many many times to get that gun but as one would expect NOT FOR SALE :banghead:

As good as they get as they say. Both certainly found in a closet in their respective boxes. PS. Damn. :)
