Is there any answer be sides a replacement stock when a dowel has been used in the grip of the stock for repair ?

above the checkering before the stock meets the receiver there is a peg or dowel that was drilled in from one side of the grip to the other. Hope this clear. Thanks

Daniel, it sounds like a cracked stock repair. There are quire a few out there that have had a bolt and nut repair. The dowel may be more pleasing to the eye. Some would checker that portion of the stock to hide the dowel. Could you post pictures?

That would be a pinned cheek. Sounds more like daniel has a pinned wrist. Certainly there are some that could hide that repair relatively well. I always personally recommend restocking in cases like this as you know that the wood is new and sound and will not be a problem again in your lifetime.
