Gentlmen: I received my parker letter on ser. 148410. It states that it was ordered on Jun 28 09 by Becknap Hardware in Louisville,Ky. It was a VH hammerless 12 gauge. Straight grip stock, steel barrels 28 inches. I also have a 32 inch set of barrels with the same ser no. with a 2 under that set and on the first set the ser. with a 1 under that ser. no. Both forends have the correct ser. no. and they are also numbered 1 and 2 . both barrels also have the 1 1/2 on the lug. The second set of barrels are marked parker bros. overload proved. The first set of barrels are 25 5/8 so i guess they have been cut. What is your take on this. Thomas L. Benson Sr.

The letter states that the first set of barrels was 28" and the added set (no record in letter?) are 30".

Dean's 30" barrels were obviously cut sometime during the night. The original poster said the barrels were 32" just last night! It still sounds like a great gun. Belknap Hardware, Louisville.

The second set is most likely factory. Parker Overload Proof barrels are post order book period so no order book record of such gun or barrel installation would exist. It still sounds like a great gun. Google has a wealth of information on Belknap Hardware and some neat pictures of their facilities. At one time, Belknap had a complex of 37 buildings to house their business as well as a massive high rise building that is referred to as a "warehouse" in the pictures.
