Can any body tell me when the first 16gauge lifter was made and the serial number range? trying to date a 16 ga lifter I have, thanks Gary

I think Robin’s Grade-5 16 gauge lifter might be the first or second made. I’ll try to come up with the ser. no.

The 16 gauge lifter I have is ser#12565 according to the letter it was a 65.00 grade with plain twist brls, ordered 12-28-1878, and it was sent back 12-7-1880 to have new barrels fitted and new stock, would like to know when the first 16 came out The gun must have been dropped or run over to have brls and stock replaced, Gary

The first listing in the Book 1444 says it is a 16 gauge. I would love to see that one

Mills I would too! did not think to look at the serialization book, I wonder if it could be a back action ? I have a 12 ga ser # 1900 range 12ga. A back action 16 would be something to see Gary

It says "L3" which I suppose would be a higher grade than a typical back action, but who knows.

Gary mine is serial number 13011. I don't recall if it's an 0 grade or a grade 1 however.
