Just acquired and it has a wide orange colored front bead setup (plastic) that is pinned on through bead hole. . With help(??) from a friend he asked if I wanted it removed. It is rather gross looking and a std bead would be more appropriate so he applied some heat , from a heat gun. He didn't think it would get hot enough to melt rib solder but........it did.Its a late Remington gun and I don't think it was very solid anyway. I now need it repaired by a qualified Smith. Therefore.......please drop some names here . Would appreciate any and all names.

It's a strip and relay. Not a big deal, if done by the right gunsmith. I would sift through the Gunsmith thread in the FAQ forum.

Will relaying the ribs properly require the barrels to be reblued properly?

Wow. I just discovered this gun is LEFT HANDED.
Left barrel more open than right.
Single trigger..Ejectors..fire once, left ejector is activated.

It's not left handed it's reversed choked. I have a couple of them that way, why they did it I have no idea.

Are yours single trigger and fire left first too?

It's cast neutral. Could go either way.

And so, it is not a single selective trigger?

You're looking at a strip-and-relay plus new blacking. Also a proper bead up front. Send the barrels to Kirk Merrington if you want it done right: 830-367-1325

Is the left trigger ahead of the right? It would then be left handed.
Are there any made that way that you are aware of?

I have a brother that is "reversed choked". Most of his friends would agree, too.

It was selective until I just moved the selector. Now it won't return.

Trigger needs a cleaning, please only send it to a smith that works on Parker single triggers, otherwise you will be in a world of "Hurt"

Welcome to The Money Pit.
Is this single trigger a Parker? Or a Miller? Or something else?
(photos would help)
Better send the whole gun off to Bachelder's. They can put it right. But it won't be cheap...

Yes but it's a selective trigger so I set it to fire the more open barrel first.

The word on the street is that Bachelder’s has several hundred guns waiting to even be looked at. Besides being expensive, they can’t even give a realistic time frame as to when you’ll get it back... just sayin’...

I think there is a FAQ that has contact information on single trigger repair.

Yes. My only experience was with a Perazzi MX8. Briley's did the work. Pretty routine work for a good barrel guy, but there are a lot of little things that could go wrong.
I haven't had any work done by Briley's in a while, so I would go with someone recommended by the Parker Assoc. I've heard good things about Kirk Merrington.

Minor adjustment and selector moved.
Until today I never knew that this style of trigger was selective. I knew the trigger of an SKB style was selective by pushing button left or right.
The reason I use a sxs is the capability of choosing the choke with trigger selection.
I disposed of a Superposed 12 and a 20 when a friend introduced me to his Parker 20 with twin triggers. That was a delight, not having to fumble with a selector for a close or far target.
I have plainly seen the knurled protrusion ( now known to me as the selector) but didn't know what it was. Just a remnant of the "other trigger"?
None the less, this cross choked 28 was used by a left eye dominate shooter.
Doubt that the letter will tell the construction of each when it left the factory, but it was a left handed gun as purchased.
Happy either way, just need to trade for " right hand choked" , twin trigger gun.
Left barrel first......I don't think so. Worth a try I suppose.
Thanks for responses.

Per Parker Gun ID and Serialization, it's a Parker trigger.

In most cases, a single trigger on a Parker is a Miller Trigger replacement. If you have a Parker with a Miller trigger that needs cleaning or repair, you will be pleased to know that the Miller Trigger Co. is still in business. Their contact information is: Daniel May or Kenneth Waite III, their Shop Phone is (315) 626-2605 and their Cell is (315) 529-1518.
This information was accurate when entered here on December 2011.

Thanks Robin, didn't have the contact info at hand, but they work on both Miller triggers and Parker single triggers.

I am not so sure you would have to have the ribs removed and relaid if only a small bit of solder is missing now due to the heat gun. A good gunsmith may be able to fill/fix the void without further damage or work required. There is paste designed so that it does not transfer heat to the other solder and Brownells also sells solder that has a much lower melting point than standard solder; comes in sticks. I have used it on the ends of barrels where the solder was missing with good results.
