View Full Version : New Years Day Shoot Major Waldron's, Who's coming?

Pete Lester

It's hard to believe but NYD is less than a week away. The long range forecast for what it is worth shows seasonable temps and a chance of precipitation, I suspect that will change between now and then. I was wondering if we could get a head count of who thinks they are coming and if you are bringing something to eat.

I will have the gate open by 7:30, shooting starts at 9AM.

The club's web page has changed and it no longer provides detailed driving directions. If using a GPS or your phone use this address to find it:

Major Waldron's Sportsmen's Association
339 Franklin Pierce Highway
Barrington, NH 03825

A belated Merry Christmas to all.

Scott i can guide you in if need be, if i can find your house that is. The last time Pete and i made coffee i have seen witches caldrons smaller than that thing. A gallon might wet the bottom of it. They probably upgraded to one of those single cup things.

Thanks to Scott and Pete for organizing this again at their club.

Kathy G. and I plan to be there. TEDDY will stay home as he is still in rehab. after the operation on his other leg; and he is doing very well.

Accuweather Forecast is now looking for 51-degree temps, with clouds and sun.

We plan to bring something to eat, but have been watching the posts to see how the menu was developing.

Thus far on the two relevant Threads I see:

Daniel C. – coffee and doughnuts
Larry F. –Venison stew
Jay O.-- snacks and bottled water
Allen N. – banana bread
Bob W. -- lasagna

Dean Romig

Gents, forecast shows scattered showers in Barrington new years day.

Not sure what you are looking at. Intellicast shows rain in the very early morning hours with a chance of rain and fog around 7AM. Overcast until 8AM and then turning mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with temps in the mid 40's, winds picking up around Noon, 20 mph. We have gathered and shot in much worse.

Does the range accept personal checks or is it cash only?
And I made the banana bread this morning with nuts and cranberries too.

Jay Oliver

I hate to do it, but I am not going to make it tomorrow. My week long cold turned into something much more serious yesterday. I am on antibiotics now and will be taking easy tomorrow.

Hopefully, I will see many of you at Addieville in April. Enjoy the warmer weather and have fun! Jay

Pete Lester

Morning and Happy New Year. We got some messy wet snow overnight, about inch at my house in Dover so there is probably a little more in Barrington as it is further inland. Temperature is 40 degrees as I type so it is a fairly warm wet mess. I suggest some water proof boots for footwear. Skies will be partly cloudy, temperature will be near 50 deg at noon time. However winds will be 20 to 30 mph making wind a chill in the 30's and targets will be rather sporting. If you are coming I will see you there.

Dean Romig
01-01-2019, 06:30 AM
Cam and I will be there.

About 19 shooters today. Good turnout. Good guns. It was a fun shoot with all these nice gentlemen.

Pete Lester

Well the 2019 NYD shoot is in the books. Thanks to the nineteen to twenty people who turned out and special thank you to those who brought us yummy things to eat; Dan Carter, Russell Cleary, Bob Weeman, Larry Frey, Bill Janelle and Dean Romig. As in years past the shoot grinds to a halt around the noon hour and things get quiet as everyone enjoys, venison stew, lasagna, chili, salad and cookies. Participants had nice soft targets early in the day but by the time we got shooting an Annie Oakley and 10 Gauge backup from 27 yards the winds were sending clay pigeons into low earth orbit. Here's a few pictures from today. Happy New Year all!

I remember you Allen... Did your feet ever thaw out?

Your bananna bread was fantastic! - did you really make it yourself?

Yes Dean, i made that banana bread myself. The secret to keeping it moist is a half cup of sour cream.

Regarding my feet, they finally thawed out by the time it got to Boston.

And a big thanks to Pete for organizing the event. It was good to be with so many Parker gents.

Dean, How did you do on trap with that DHE?

Good Morning Allen - The DHE shot exactly where I pointed it...

In answer to your question, I didn’t do so well because I didn’t always point the gun where the target was going to be.

So Dean you are saying it really is the archer and not the arrow ? I refuse to believe that because then i would have no reason to buy that next gun.

Definitely the archer

You can like a gun but the gun has to like you if it's going to be any good. Their like women only less expensive :rotf:

I especially like the way Cam’s trigger finger is laid alongside the frame of his gun. It shows that he learned what he was taught and he employs it all the time.
