Hey there folks, just going to throw out there from the start that I'm one of those inheritance guys who poked around enough on this website to feel very uninformed on what I just picked up from my father-in-law's estate.

The gun looks really cool and I want to insure it with my others but really have no idea how to start a value assessment. Been to gunbroker.com and may have an idea but would really like a knowledgeable person here to interject if possible? Thank you in advance!

You have a grade 1 top action hammer gun with Laminated steel barrels. The condition looks fair. The blue book of gun values is an excellent documentable source for insurance values. However, I do not believe that Parker hammer guns are well covered in the book.

I would say that a good value for insurance is mabe $1,000. Realistically the market value for sale of the gun is more like $500-700.

A #2 frame gun with 4 pound, 10 ounce barrels is a heavy duty gun. You might examine the grip area of the stock to determine why a previous owner felt the need to add an extra screw to the trigger guard. With an examination of bore condition and wall thickness, this gun may turn out to be a reliable and safe shooting gun.
