Was curious if there was anyone you would recommend for a Silvers pad with spur installation?

Hi Is anyone even making a pad with a spur that will fit a pre 1920’s Parker stock with the spur inlet??

The Silvers pad that Galazan’s sells has a tiny little spur that doesn’t come close to filling the inlet.

To answer your question Dean, NO. Any silvers style pads that do have spurs are small spurs. The spurs of the period were smaller than the spur on a DHBP anyway. But modern silvers spurs are differently shaped than period silvers spurs.

When i have had to install pads with spurs (and I have done more than just a couple), i have to attach a spur to the base of the pad.

That is good to know, I'm having one shipped from Kynoch, so I got about three weeks to come up with an idea!

I assume you ordered one from them with the spur.

If your stock needs to be cut or is already cut, then it is just a matter of inletting the spur on the pad into your stock. But, if your stock currently has spur inletting that you are looking to save and the new spur does not fit it, then a solution has to be come up with.

Right, I thought so... I did that once and it came out really well.

Get/buy a worn out or broken spurred dog’s head butt plate and very carefully cut/grind/sand off all of it except what you need of the spur. Use black epoxy to attach it to your new pad after the pad has been mostly fitted to your butt.

Yup, that is why I save every broken plate that I remove or take off parts guns. I have a drawer full of them.
