I’m waiting for something to happen. I’ll just have another rum and tonic in the meantime.

Grilled/smoked parrot is excellent table fare. All you need is a slingshot and a few rocks.... Where are you Edgar?

I have shot parrots in South America. The locals down there hate them.

In Argentina, the guides and bird boys want you to shoot any parakeet you saw. They make up big nesting groups on power poles which can result in power outages. Shot one, and then decided they better learn to live with outages, because I was done shooting pretty little birds

Richard, we’re on Tortola. It’s a it of a pain to get here, but once you’re here, and manage the terrible road into the house, you completely unwind. One major shopping trip at the grocery in Roadtown, much of which is wine beer rum and tonic. I think this is our 20th year. Sadly, Irma and Maria took a toll, but the people are so cheerful.
No, Dean..Only the few criminals have guns down here.
Tomorrow we have a traditional Thanksgiving at an old Sugar Mill that knows what we Muricans like.

Richard, 20 years ago we stayed at Prospect Reef, just west of town. As all the good beaches are on the north shore, the next few years we stayed at Long Bay. For the past 14 years we have rented a private home. We’re all the way on the west end, opposite side of the mountain from Sopers Hole. We overlook Smuglers Cove. It’s a good hours drive from the airport and ever since the hurricane, getting thru town is a pain. Our two favorite spots are Smuglers and Brewers Bay. The road from Apple Bay to Belmont (the side of the mountain where we are) is possibly the worst road I’ve ever traveled. We bottom out or cross axle getting the half mile from the house to the beach. As a rule, that’s where you’ll find us until sunset.

Looks like a nice and a bit more private part of the island. I see Apple Bay, Cappoons Bay, Long Bay and Belmont Bay between Belmont Pond and Apple Bay. Best beach looks to be on the west end in Belmont Bay. You should be in this image somewhere. You gotta love Google Earth! Enjoy the sunshine; I'll be plowing snow much of today.

Richard, what google is calling lower Belmont Bay is Smuglers Cove. East of here is Long Bay which was a former resort which went private. The picture shows what happened to many of the stilt condos, just back from the beach. The topless, dead palms are about 500 yards inland. Much of the island has yet to fully recover. (Bad pun but meaning many houses are still roofless)
Nearly every power pole was taken down, and it was over six months before this end of the island got their power back.
Kelvin, I can’t begin to tell you how great the snorkeling and diving is down here. Julie and I are going up to Brewers tomorrow where I hope to try out my new underwater case for my Cannon.

We'll be expecting some pictures here if that case works. Looks like great diving. If I were scuba diving I'd head for the cliffy area around the end of that stubby peninsula. Rocky areas like that can be fabulous diving.

Nice Edgar! We honeymooned on Tortola many years ago. At Rymer's on Cane Garden Bay. There was not much over there at the time. Rymer's son, Quito had a small restaurant and bar next door. They told us that Walter Cronkite had a house over on that side not far from the bay. What a great place to get away.
Do you still see a lot of damage from the hurricane?
Just saw your latest post with storm damage...
