This a damascus 0 Frame 20 gauge GH I had bought at the beginning of the year. Someone had shortened the stock and I was wondering what to do.
I decided on a leather covered recoil pad, which was installed by Abe Chaber in CT. I love the way it came out and the LOP is now 14 1/8" to the front trigger, which fits me well. I had a very nice round of clays with it yesterday.

Very nice. Are the Purdey style pressed borders (forgot what they call them) behind the edge of the leather, a bit lightly pressed or is that a trick of the camera?

Bill, I would say the boarders are somewhat lightly pressed. It's my personal taste/preference, but I didn't want a new Silvers pad. I like they way the look when they have some age on them, but the new ones just don't appeal to me. Dean sent me a picture of a DH he has with the same kind of leather pad and I knew it was a perfect solution(for me).

The border lines Abe did on mine are a bit lightly pressed too. I don’t mind - it still does a very nice job of extending the LOP of a shortened stock in a classy kind of way.
I've seen better jobs but it fixed the cut stock problem.

Thanks for answering my inquiry about the borders (still can't remember what they call them). My favorite leather pad guy quit doing them. However, the CSMC Inverness that Tony built for The Lovely Linda has the nicest leather covered pad I have seen in years.

I had this pad done for a long ago 7 pin sidekick.
Sold the gun and kept the pad.
It now rests on my rain and mud gun, a Montgomery Wards Western Field,
I've tried it on many and this was the only gun I have that its fit perfectly.
Adding the pad doubled the value of the gun :rotf:
