Does anyone know if the leather hand guards for splinter forend shotguns are made for 10 gauge guns? I have not been able to find one. Do they even exist? Thanks

I picked-up one at the Southern this spring. They do exist, but I think the one I bought makes two that I've seen. You might try John Bugden. He used to make leather handguards, and may still be in the business. I found this email and number for him on another forum: Johnwbugden@yahoo.com; 270-753-0305. Don't know for sure if the number and email are still good for him. ---Matt

Thanks. I was trying to remember his name. I’ve bought stuff from him before.

I use my 12 on my 10s. Work just fine and then squeeze the spring steel back in place for the 12.

I have a dozen or more of John Bugden's hand guards. I use the 12 gauge for 10 gauge guns. I use his 10 gauge guards for 8 gauge guns. I don't try to squeeze them back for the smaller gauge because I have dedicated guards for each gauge. I hope my friend John is OK. I have missed the Southern for a couple of years and I don't think he goes to Ernie's. My favorite hand guard from John is a little .410 guard that probably isn't more than five inches long.

What sizes do you use for 6- and 4 gauge guns? John was at the Southern just past and looked and sounded pretty good to me. My all time favorite product of John's is his oak & leather fly swatter.

John actually makes an eight gauge hand guard, but it is bigger than it needs to be. It will probably fit a four gauge.
