This BHE trap had previously had it’s frame buffed and then cyanide colored. The engraving was softened pretty bad from all that. And then there was a good amount of pitting that took hold after that. I got it mostly sorted out before geoffroy recut the original pattern based on photos of the gun before.

The gun is getting fully restored with new wood and metal finishes (except the barrels which were in fine shape as is).

The gun is a 32” 12g BHE with straight grip, Vent Rib and BTFE. The gun is fitted with a miller SST.

That gun will be some nice eye candy when it's done. I hope someone will post pictures of it then.

Beautiful work my friend! I can’t imagine the patience that takes. Is it more difficult to recut engraving than it is to work fresh metal?

Thank you Mike , thank's all Yes it is more difficult . It is as to copy an hand-writing , it is personal . Then if the surface have been re-polished and easy to cut , the previous engraving is still hard from the treatment with hard point from the oxidation . I like restoration , I did it for many other items .

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing that beautiful iron attached to the gorgeous piece of wood. The checkering really helps bring it out. What finish did you use on the wood Brian? Wouldn’t want you to share secrets but...
