A remarkable early AH. And it has some of the finest DD Damascus I've ever seen.

That is quite nice. They really seemed to go all out for the early AH's

They are truly beautiful guns the early AH's. I own 83183 but it only has 4 dogs 10 birds and 6 deer. Wow! I would like to own two of 22 but :nono:

That gun is also signed by the engraver on the floor plate.

Before Parker introduced the AA grade in April 1894 the A grade was their
top grade. They put the finest Damascus barrels, wood, and engraving into
the A grades. They are, indeed, a thing of beauty. A few had "hidden" game
scenes within the extra fine scroll.

Patrick, is the signature beneath the hind's elbow? that looks like a signature but I can't enlarge the picture without losing definition.
It looks like Gough's work...
Do we know if Gough ever engraved any Grade 7 hammerless Parkers?

Given how early the serial number is (58911), I looked at the tables in TPS.
This is the 8th AH grade built. and the 6th in 10g.
Looking at other higher grade guns, by this serial number, there were 15 BH grades and 42 CH grades built.

A few auctions ago at Poulin's they had a 10 gauge AH with 30 inch barrels.
it had some barrel dents and a pieced in replacement for the back 6 inchs or so of the rib and dolls head. A little rough but I still wish I bought it for the 1800.00 it went for. Still a cool old gun even in its condition.

Dean,
It is signed H. Gough where you describe.

I really wish he wouldn't put that awful filter on his pictures hiding things. He has some good guns

Even though there was one more (23) BH 10 gauge Damascus guns built in comparison to the AH guns I have found the BH 10's seem to be more difficult to find in the market place.
I have been looking for a nice all original one for over twenty years and only
have seen one for sale many years ago. Can only guess the B's were used more
and taken less care of than the AH grades.
