View Full Version : PGCA Name Badges

I am working on a permanent name badge with a company that seems very user friendly.
It will be hard plastic for weight and durability.
It will have two pins that push through the material you are wearing.
It will be reasonably priced and the more people who sign up, the lower it will be.It will run from $3.25 to $8.90 depending on options and quantity mostly. I will probably round up the cost to an even dollar amount and give the extra to the PGF.
It will be reasonably sized.
If this goes forward I will bring them to the annual meeting or mail them out but that will cost you.
I will pay the vendor and collect money.
It will look similar to this draft but the text of your name and home town will be under the open gun and the words Parker Bros Makers Meriden Conn will be removed.
I am having a little difficulty getting a high resolution scan of a virgin Parker Post Card circa 1905.
So I can gauge interest, who would like to get one of these?

Thanks for your responses. It appears there are quite a few people who would like badges. I will move forward.
When I get a proof that I am satisfied with, I will send out an announcement on this thread and take EMAIL ORDERS. Not PMs or postings to this thread. The reason for that is that I will need to cut and paste the names and towns to create a master list for the vendor.
I am still not satisfied with the image resolution but here is latest proof showing where I want the text. (If someone can cut and crop this image so it appears as a 2x3 name badge in the thread and not as an attachment, I would be grateful.)

I have approved the proof. I have asked the vendor about fasteners. They will allow me to chose from 4 fasteners but each type of fastener has to be in its own ordering group (more volunteer work for which someone will no doubt complain) but I will get the discount on the total order. So I am told.
The fasteners are as follows:
Clutchback-that is two push through pins- $1 upcharge
Clip- like an alligator - $.50 upcharge
Magnet- $1.50 upcharge
Pin- like a safety pin- zero upcharge.

I will be requesting the following be EMAILED to me for EACH badge you want:
First Name
Middle Initial if you want
Last Name
Town or City
State or Province
Fastener choice

I will only take these orders by EMAIL because I am going to cut and paste the text into an Excel spreadsheet to upload.
My EMAIL is : george.m.purtill@snet.net
When I get the full number of orders I will have a pretty exact price. The more the merrier. I will wait a reasonable amount of time for everyone to EMAIL me.
In the subject line of the EMAIL please write PGCA Name Badge Order

For some unknown reason, I received THREE orders for badges yesterday and I have determined it's time to get this moving to production and pricing.
SO- last call for badges- Friday June 15 at 5pm.
I will then get a final price at which point you can back out. As needed I will arrange and price shipping. I plan to use Edgar as my Sherpa to bring the badges to the Annual Meeting, in case I sell all my guns before that and stop shooting.

Update
It took so long to get all the orders from you all that the company deleted my order and proof.
BUT I had saved the proof and sent it back!!
So I submitted the Excel spreadsheet that I had laboriously typed data for 82 badges and I flunked because I had separate columns for First Name, Last Name, City, State.
I needed one column for each line of text on the badge...…..
So, I have just re-submitted.
Stay tuned.

I have ordered 84 badges just now.
I proofed the text a few times and we should be good.
I should have them this weekend.
I have to calculate prices to figure in freight to me and the different costs of fasteners.
I plan to bring them to the annual meeting. I will not be able to get there early as I have a trial on Friday.
I will drive down on Saturday morning.
If you have a friend who can transport your badge, that would be great.

For those who cannot attend the meeting we shall figure out a way to get them to you.

I have been informed that the badges have shipped to me.
I paid for Priority mail.
When I get the shipping charges I will come up with a price for each different type of badge:
Clutchback
Pin
Magnet
Clip

I am totally way late on this thread, and George has graciously informed me that the deadline for this round has long passed! :banghead:

However, in the event that George may find the need to place another order for additional name tags in the future, I wanted to get my name in the game as being interested in purchasing a name tag for my use at future PGCA events.

Thanks for doing the first round, George. And my fingers are crossed for a second round someday!

Dave
I am sure I will be placing another order. I had a latecomer last week and was able to get them on.
I’m sure I’ll have had some goofs on my part that will cause me to get another order going.
I hope everyone will like them and will wear them proudly.

As I said earlier in this thread, send an email to me with the following information:
First and last name
City and State or province
Type of fastener

Many members ordered multiple badges.
I’ll happily do it again if members want it.

I will have them at the annual meeting next weekend.

I will deliver Edgar's badges today.
All others will be delivered to the Vintage Cup and Annual Meeting next Saturday.
If you are not attending the festivities next weekend, please see if a friend can grab your badge(s) for you.
After the annual meeting I will mail out badges but the cost of mailing is probably equal to the badge price.
Thanks

I have looked at freight costs and the different costs for the different types of fasteners and voted unilaterally to charge the same price for all types for simplicity reasons. Selfish simplicity reasons....
The price per badge is $8.00 each.

THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE MAILING CHARGES FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT GETTING THEIR BADGE(S) FROM ME AT THE ANNUAL MEETING. I will figure mailing charges after I get some envelopes generously donated by a member.

I have discovered a screwup on my part.
I lost 4 badge requests.
4 members who requested badges didn't give me fastener type and I didn't follow up.
When I had to sort my spreadsheet by fastener, their names dropped out.
My fault.

My sincere apologies.
I am starting a new order thread today.

Really like your postal address. Just initials. You must be very well-known in the Glastonbury community. :)

It reminds me of a college fraternity brother of mine, whose mother was the Postmistress of a small New Hampshire town. He addressed his letters home as follows:

Mom
Stoddard, New Hampshire.

(Yes, back in those days people wrote letters when communicating with home.)

I have decided to change my name, and will be ordering new badges shortly.

That's great. Who will you be now?

Wilbur Parker? You don't look like a Wilbur.

Samuel Colt? Sam has a nice ring to it.

I am not going to give you credit for those 4 name badges. NO WAY.

If I was going to change my name to another member's name it would be Daryl Corona. But that's just me.

edgarspencer

Despite only ordering two badges, I think you should have given me the extras. I'm going to give mine to my wife and kids to remember me.
Since you are acquiring all the available Colts, I see no point in adopting Sam as my new moniker. I think it will begin with 'Sir', but whatever name I do ultimately choose, I will do my utmost to honor my namesake. There's room for another DuPont, right?
I think you would make a very good Daryl.

George asked me to show this option for wearing your name tag.I appreciate all of George's work in the name badges but I just didn't like the attachments offered nothing on George it's just me.Here is the solution I use for other name badges and it works fine for the PGCA badges.
The back of the PGCA badges have a square base that is just attached with a adhesive tape.I took them off slowly with a small knife slowly.Cleaned the surface and drop them in the sleeve and that's it.
Great show this weekend and great meeting many you.
I got these at an office max, office depot type store.
