In the last few days I have seen several new members asking advice about buying their first Parker gun. They have received good advice and I would like to add to that advice.
Back in 2014, I wrote an article for Parker Pages called "Intro to the Parker Gun - 101" that I hope helped introduce new members to the basic things to look for when evaluating a Parker. I feel that it would be beneficial to forum members as well, so I have placed a link to the article in our FAQ web page.
For those interested, go to www.parkerguns.org and open the FAQ link found on the left side of our home page. There you can find this new link listed as #23 "Learning About the Parker Gun" in the "General Parker Knowledge" grouping of FAQ links.
I hope it helps.

How release lever after barrels are removed.
 I not sure I understand the question? If you are asking how to make the lever go to the center when the barrels are off, simple hold the lever over and use a pencil to push down on the little tab in the grove in the frame, it's at the bottom of the flat breach wall, down in the grove. Push it down and let the lever slowly over to the center position.
I said to use a pencil because it's wood and will not scratch the gun; any soft push stick will work.

I like Robin's suggestion of using a pencil but to clarify, use the eraser tip rather than the point.

As one of the new guys allow me to thank you. I didn't realize until now how in depth the Parker FAQ section was. Just a terrific reference, and well worth spending some time there.

We owe Robin Lewis a standing applause for maintaining and adding to the FAQ tab as well as a great many of the other tabs there in the left column of the Home Page.

Dan, go to our main web page (not the forum page) at www.parkerguns.org. Along the left side of the page is a list along that side; they are actually links to other PGCA web pages. At the bottom of that list is Parker FAQ's ; click on it. That takes you to a web page with a list of Frequently Asked Questions. What you are looking for is #23 in the list..... click on it, it's a link to a PDF document that should come up on your computer.
Good luck, I hope this answers your questions.

Intro to the Parker Gun...
I made a copy of the article to read at my leisure. I've read it twice now. Outstandingly helpful in it's simplicity, and although it can be a exhaustive learning process and subject, it is a fine roadmap for beginners. Hosford and Co. barrel wall thickness gauge may be an eye opener for some more weathered and experienced folk here, but for a beginner it may well be a tool worth remembering and obtaining. Tools that add value are never liabilities.
Once again thank you Robin Lewis!
