In recognition of the Parker Gun Collectors Association (PGCA) 25th Year Anniversary in 2018, the display theme for the Southern Side By Side display at the PGCA/LCSCA tent will be "Parker Guns – The First 25 Years". So if you have a Parker Gun manufactured prior to 1895 please bring it to the Southern for display. Jim Hall has graciously volunteered to coordinate the display this year so please contact Jim by PM or via email at sjhall@haloisp.net.

What would be the serial number cutoff?

Dean Romig

Serial No. 79560 was the last gun to be produced by Parker Bros. in 1893, their 25th year of producing shotguns.

Don't forget the daughters, granddaughters, and great granddaughters. It would be something to see one beat the boys. They are very important to the survival and future of shooting, guns, and collecting as you know. I have no daughters but lucky to have four granddaughters that I let shoot every chance I can. But they like girl things too much.

Absolutely, Jerry. My niece and my brother almost got a turkey together the other week. Women are a fast growing part of the shooting sports and that is good news

Very well said Jerry!

I know it was not intentional to leave the ladies out... it's just force of habit.
But I live it every day. I have a wonderful wife who enjoys being with all of our shooting friends. I have two daughters who were brought up in a family of shooters and hunters and I have three granddaughters who are exposed to this lifestyle.

It would be really cool to see a girl win her class.

Years ago- when I shot a lot of black powder- our club had a kid's event at the annual rendezvous. They shot a flintlock, threw a tomahawk and a knife and some archery targets. One year a young girl, who happened to be a direct descendent of a prominent early settler ran away with the score. The club was thrilled

So was she. First prize each year was an incredible hand built flintlock, with bag and horn She shot that proudly in the monthly matches afterwards

Bring your camera and your reporter's note pad - I need pictures and a full report, names, scores, etc.

Thanks, Dean

I would love to see that gun. I don’t think I’ve seen one with double digit serial numbers. That could easily be the earliest one of the exhibit.

I will have a back action (no 152), a grade 2 lifter, an early hamerless GH and a Wesson Arms shotgun for the display.

Wesson only built just over 200 guns before they were purchased and absorbed by Parker. John Stokes and his rebounding lock desighn came from Wesson arms. Before the purchase, Parker was paying a royalty to wesson for the use of Stokes’ design on Parker guns.
