It looks as if several of us may be flying down from central VA to Sanford in late March or very early April to shoot the course at Sanford .

I've not been there how bad am I going to handicap myself shooting an EH that's full and fuller yet ?

Are there a lot of far targets ?

It is really an IC/Mod course, but then if you're a really good shooter it shouldn't matter.

So then I should go straight with anything :rotf:

All jokes aside , I would like to shoot a 10 gauge and it's either a Parker tight and tighter OR my new to me EH cylinder and light mod . Course I could take a LC Smith that's M&M .

Bring them all. Shoot the course once with each gun.

I'd like to for sure but I don't think we have enough allocated time for more then one time around and lunch then back in the plane and back to the real world in the Old Dominion !

Plus I am quite certain I don't have enough available empty 10 gauge hulls for more then maybe 200-225 shells . To say nothing of the time to load them all , I won't be back in Virginia until March 18th . Did I mention I despise loading more then 10 or 12 shells at a time on a single stage press :banghead:

I really need to find someone to convert a MEC 9000 to 10 gauge :cool:

It’s the perfect course for we Virginians: it never changes. You can shoot everything with skeet chokes. Check out Drakes Landing while you are there.

I wouldn't mind going to the other one , but if this actually happens we're flying in early in a 6 passenger plane , shoot a round , get a bite to eat and then back in the plane and back to VA !

This one is easier then Brad's course in Palmyra ?

Speaking of the course only (not the qualifier or challenge events) I seem to recall one shot in the last few years that "might" have taken an IC. Pretty close shots for the most part. You might consider spreader loads....

My EH that's cylinder and lite IC may be the ticket then .

I think you will be well suited with that combo. Good luck to you !

Are you flying down with Brad? How much easier than CVSC is hard to say. All targets are close but some will fly between trees. But again, I’ve shot the course over a period of 10 years going to the Southern and it seems unchanged in all that time.

You may want to check with Deep River to see if they will allow a 10ga on the course. At the Southern SxS it is allowed but during regular hours I am not sure. Have fun!

If this happens that's the plan . He , two other fellows and myself if they don't go before I get home .

Are you serious? Drake's Landing doesn't have an airstrip? I remember enrolling in a new private high school in Maryland in about 1969. The school was built on irregular ground and the students were enlisted to level out a piece of ground for the football field. Long story short, that's how we got our football field. We could do the same at Drake's Landing with the "airstrip".
