Has the PGC booked the usual block of rooms at the Quality (?) Inn in Vestal for the Hausmanns shoot in June? Is it too early or do I have cabin fever with this cold?

It's not too early to think about it, even as a diversion from staring at the four walls...
I don't believe anyone has made reservations yet though.

No 2018 date on Ernie's website yet. Is there somewhere else we can find the confirmed date?

Bill I think cabin fever is overwhelming you. Ernie's shoot is always the first weekend in June, your close this is still January but the month starts with a J:rotf:

The website says jun 7 to jun 9 for 2018.

What website would that be? The HHSC website shows 2017 dates. Rich, the previous poster does not agree with your "always" assessment of dates.

Just checked it again to make sure, it says jun 7 to jun 9 2018, read all the way to the end. The site address : hhhsc.net

For the last few years I've been making the arrangements for a block of rooms at QI in Vestal. If it has not been done already I will give them a call tomorrow and set it up and post the info here as soon as its confirmed. If another hotel is preferred or if someone else wants to handle the arrangements please let me know to avoid any confusion.

Maybe someone could post a "LINK" to the 2018 dates. I just went through the entire website and didn't see any information about 2018 dates.

Bill, I see how you would have a problem finding the info, the first screen that opened up for me showed the photo I posted but if I went anywhere else on the site I could not get back there? Try this address : hhhsc.net/ don't forget the forward slash that seems to be the trick.

A block of rooms at the Quality Inn in Vestal NY is now available at the same rate ($99.95) as the last few years. Their phone number is 607-729-6371 and when you call tell them your with the Parker group. The date for this years event at Haussmann's Hidden Hollow is 6/7-6/9 and there will be rooms available starting on 6/6 for anyone who needs to arrive early.

Thanks, Larry. I finally located this thread and successfully got in under PGCA. The Quality has nothing on "Northeast Side by Side" as is suggested on Ernie's site. As with the Hampton Inn in Sanford, "Sorry our computers are down". Too bad, but retail and hospitality business in this country has been contracted out to phone banks in foreign countries. Good luck with Josh L's attempt to book the entire Hampton for PGCA in 2019. When we call to reserve a room at the Southern next year, the phone bank person in Pakistan or Las Vegas will give the message to us, "Sorry no rooms available no matter what group you are with. The entire hotel is booked for the weekend." Good luck next April.

What's the rush?
Bill Murphy

The "Rush" is that the hotel says that the rooms I booked this evening are the last ones available under the block. Further, after spending most of the afternoon getting two rooms booked, I got an email confirmation for one room. Apparently, Ernie's blocked rooms have not been released yet, if they ever will be. Tomorrow morning, I am told to expect an email on my two room confirmation, or maybe it will be three.

Bill,
I called the Hotel this morning and there are still rooms available. There was some confusion at the front desk but the manager assured me they will continue adding rooms to our block until the place is full. Just mention Parker Gun Collectors when calling for the rate listed above.

Adding rooms to the block until the hotel is full is a novel concept. The Hampton in Sanford sells the blocked rooms and the rest of the hotel is booked at $200 a night, too bad you called too late!

A note. When i booked the other day, the guy told me that a credit card number was not needed to reserve the room. BUT... it had to be provided by 4pm on day of check-in. Or the room would be released. So, it would be best to provide a cc number to them when you book.

The info they provided to Brian is scary...no credit card?

If I remember correctly from the last two years, the QI in Vestal has been booked with two high school field trips at least one or two of the NE shoot days.

Just a tidbit related to the Northeast SxS heard while at a Charity sporting shoot yesterday. Hausmann's food vendor will be Ma Greenley's BBQ - the same food vendor and staffers we've seen many times at the Rock Mountain events. :)

I know what that little smiley face is for describing the food vendor Frank. The food and "servers" were top notch.

Let's have some feedback on the staff & logistics performance of the QI in Vestal this time - did you need to bring your own light bulbs and extension cords still? Last time I had to stay there they sent "the boy" out to get more light bulbs - none in the house!! - and he was gone so long we just walked across Vestal Parkway to the drug store and bought our own 4-pack! When we had to cancel our dinner reservations because of SUNY Binghamton's graduation weekend overflow crowds (1 1/2 hr. wait), we decided to eat in at QI's pseudo Japanese/Chinese/whatever grill - bad idea- with 4 other people in the place, our "party of two" waited 45 minutes to be served dinner. Thank God our host in Vestal Center finished his house just in time!

The only things I pay for at the QI is a clean bed, a clean shower and a toilet. I don't expect more so I'm never disappointed. If I was a 5-star kind of guy and I paid $250/night I guess I could complain. Light bulbs though? - that's inexcusable.

It was the first time that I had stayed in the long wing of the hotel. In past years it was always up closer to the entrance.
I am wondering how much longer that wing of the hotel will remain standing. Every doorframe is cock-eyed with cracks above the corners. The hallway floors are wavier than the ocean and the walls in the room had several structural cracks.
But... beyond those observations, the stay was just fine as usual.

The room was fine for the price we paid, did you expect The Four Seasons?

My friend and I stayed there as we have for a few years. I must say that we had no problems at any time. Much better than other places I have stayed and breakfast was much better than some others. As for food we went to Outback and Texas Roadhouse ,both were good.
